I had a really good experience with LUMA when I needed to change doctors. Their medical team helped me arrange a second opinion at another hospital with a doctor who had more experience in my case. The doctor they recommended took the time to explain the procedure and treatment clearly, which made a big difference for me.
I WILL NEVER USE LUMA AGAIN.I RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT USE LUMA.CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS BASED IN VIETNAM DENIED CLAIMSBURIED IN PAGES OF FORMS TO DISSUADE CLAIMSI bought Luma Travel Insurance for an upcoming trip throughout South East Asia. I was starting in Thailand. This was a policy for about half a year. Technically I'm still covered, but IT HASN'T COVERED A SINGLE THING.I made sure that it would cover Thailand as I was planning to leaving and returning, using Thailand as my travel hub.Luckily (I thought), but it turns out to be unlucky, I had a minor fall the following day which required x-rays, a soft cast, and a couple of follow up visits in Bangkok as I had fractured my right foot.At the hospital the travel insurance wasn't recognized, I had to pay out of pocket. I submitted the paperwork I received from the hospital to Luma and got no response for months. Dozens of pages of paperwork (WHEN I'M ON VACATION, LUMA forms from the hospital, Accident Reports, Individual Expense Reports)Eventually they required me to re-submit all the documents all over again to a customer service rep in Vietnam. This is when I knew I was going to get screwed. They cited terms and conditions that weren't the ones I signed up for initially and the claim was denied. The the medical expenses was about $1000, not even a very expensive claim. However, the months long inconvenience leading to the eventual denial of claim means:Again,I WILL NEVER USE LUMA AGAIN.I RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT USE LUMA.I will be returning to Thailand and non-stop traveling for the rest of my life, almost assuredly, and I won't be using Luma ever again or recommend it to anyone I know.Personally I think they are short sided and will be losing a lot more than 1,000$ in business. Its best to choose something else.
I purchased health insurance for my 2 children in 2023 and have continued over the years. Both my son and daughter have had to use the insurance in the past and have had a positive experience handling claims and the hospitals.I also had to get a second medical opinion from the doctors at Luma as my son had some issues which went on for some time, the medical team at Luma were able to refer me to a specific doctor specializing in the area and finally my son was properly diagnosed and cared for. Very happy with Luma and expect to continue with them for the years coming!
