Extremely Poor Exchange Rate – Predatory PricingI exchanged U.S. dollars to Canadian dollars at Money Mart and the rate was shockingly low. It was far worse than the market rate and significantly worse than what other currency exchange services were offering the same day.There was no transparency about how bad the rate was until the transaction was processed. The spread was excessive, and the result was that I lost a noticeable amount of money for a simple cash exchange. This feels less like a service and more like taking advantage of customers who may not have better options.Money Mart does not post exchange rates publicly, which makes it easy for them to quote whatever rate they want at the counter. That lack of transparency is unacceptable for currency exchange.If you care about getting a fair rate, do not exchange USD to CAD here. Check any reputable currency exchange or even a bank first. I would not use Money Mart again for currency exchange and do not recommend it to anyone.
