They have been open about the constraints they face and have operated to realistic timescales. This has given me confidence in their ability which thus far has been justified. Sometimes they have even understated how much they have done!
Burn your money, it'll be quicker. I'd already self-published but wasn't getting any sales. I foolishly handed over £3300 thinking that Olympia would better promote my book. This was back in 2023, and it took almost two years to publish my book (in exactly the same manner that I'd already done, even using the same cover photo of mine! In fact, I did most of the work!) They've pitch my novel at way too high a price, and have obviously used an awful AI proof reader on it, making much of the narrative and grammar nonsensical, doing me no favours at all. The whole experience has been a backward step, more fool me. I won't be happy until I get a full refund as compensation for my time wasted and the damage done!
I thoroughly enjoyed the supportive disposition on the part of the Staff at formalization of the manuscript, proof-reading, book-cover finalization, etc. Each and every member of the team such as Ruth Ridley, Kristina Smith and Saffron Peters were a great help with all their expertise. They were ever-ready to comply with my requests of suggestions and imbibed them in the book. I am so grateful to them. Initially, it was Mr James Houghton who made me feel that the manuscript was worth its while. It is Leila who assures me regarding the visibility of the book by means of promotion of the book and finally it is Ben who sends a ray of hope to me regarding the sales. Thanks a million Olympia!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am Joanne Nolan, the original author of Mrs Hanky, Pranky Covers St Paddies Day. I paid £7,000 for two titles to be illustrated and published with Bumblebee Books (Olympia Publishers) but cancelled the contract due to unprofessional conduct across all areas of production. Despite my cancellation, they retained the payment and published a poorly illustrated sample manuscript without permission. For over six months, I have repeatedly requested removal of this title and received only apologetic responses without action. The genuine Mrs Hanky, Pranky series is professionally produced and independently published by me under TinyTivities.
Faith and LifeIn addition to being a priest, the author is a "man of letters". That is why his explanations, which are fundamentally theological in nature, are covered with linguistic and literary beauty. Attentive to current reality, the philologist-pastor tries to present the religious message in a convincing way, appealing to the innate capacity for thinking in humans but without technicalities and using timely quotes from theologians, philosophers and writers.A couple of examples: "Having faith in the afterlife helps you live helps to live today, here and now”; "The theologian Karl Rahner refers beautifully to the void we call death flooded by the mystery we call God".Likewise, quite often the linguist emerges, and, sometimes, the man with a sense of humor pokes his head out. In any case, the language is precise, rich and pleasant, typical of a good writer.A synthesis of the entire book, and at the same time a justification for the title, is offered to us by the author when he states: “There can be no separation between faith and life, between mysticism and commitment.” Truly, this is a valuable contribution to Christian culture.
As a debut novelist filled with hopes and ambition, I approached Olympia Publishers in good faith expecting a professional partnership to help bring my work to the wider audience. In total I submitted two books and paid a total of £5,000.The editorial was basic and slow; my books were proof read several times to correct typo errors, but no suggestions were given regarding content improvements. The marketing of the books is still a mystery; despite completing numerous forms about different ways to sell my books, I have only ever seen my book on Amazon. However when checking in my local bookstore I was told that they sold two copies of my first book but neither the store or Olympia could offer any explanation why stocks were not replenished.Communication is poor. Contact felt impersonal with their 'Hello' and changes in personnel and questions not being answered led to frustration and regular chasing. Olympia have refused to refund monies paid and I have sold two books amounting to pittance profit which Olympia will not pay as it is less than £20.I have another book waiting to be published and will not be using Olympia.
On the whole, a positive experience. Leila and Saffron in particular are both excellent. The book was received in the post yesterday and looks fantastic. The reason Leila is good is because she is on the end of the phone when you need her and always provides solutions to problems. In the early stages of production, this wasn’t always the case and there were several moments where I didn’t feel wholly supported; however things drastically improved once Saffron took over. On the whole though, positive.
I contacted Olympia publishers and they seemed to be very professional.Until I paid them £2200 and that's when it all changed. Communication was next to zero.I had to do all the chasing, which wasn't helpful with them changing staff every few weeks.I never had a "point of contact" through out the whole process. It took almost a year for my book to become available for purchase. My book was available in April then discontinued in August. They admitted to NOT publicising my book due to a "Change over" and as a result I only sold 8 copies (due to my own advertising) and was never offered a refund due to their inadequasies Complaints are totally ignored and no refund was offered due to their non existing advertising. At this point, I am £2200 down with my emails and letters ignored. In answer to your reply, I've been waiting for someone to contact me since April so I won't hold my breath.I have an email from you stating that you didn't advertise my book due to a "change over" which would obviously cause loss of sales.A lot of people are having the same problem as me .....Don't get me wrong.....I never thought I would be a famous author or make a lot of money from my book but I do believe I could of made more sales if you had advertised it.The book is great and I appreciate that.....but , as a publishing company, you should give 100% into the books you publish. We (amature authors) rely on your help and expertise and sadly you failed me.
