Review Time
I returned to this platform to check if I could access it again (to see if my internet provider was banned) and discovered that my previous review had been removed. I wanted to see if others were facing similar issues regarding bans or IPs, as this might indicate it was just a problem on my end.
The response from the site owner was quite surprising:
"Wait.
Let me get this straight.
You've never accessed our site in your entire lifetime, but are still leaving a negative review?
Not only that: you were so affected by the experience that you were motivated to create an account and post your very first review?
You're fake, and part of a negative campaign against my site.
Not only that, but your name is 'Hexagon'?". This platform remains unusable for me (Error 1005). I would argue that an error page doesn't count as accessing a site, but apparently that's not the case. Additionally, why comment on my username? It seemed unnecessary.
I use a popular browser, and this platform is the top result for "timer". I looked at reviews while trying to understand why I was banned and decided to share my own experience since I couldn't use the site.
My original review expressed my disappointment: "The first and only time I tried to use this site and I can't access it. Your service does not work for me and seems to be a problem for many others as well.... very disappointing." I hope my disorganized writing hasn't caused any confusion.
I unfortunately cannot give this website 5 stars. Though i understand this is a project essentially manned by one person, when changing ISPs somewhat recently I found I was banned from the website. It was a huge bummer for me. As a college student now, I started using this site back in middle school to wake up for classes. It truly was my favorite site of its kind, but as Verizon is easily the best ISP in my area in all ways except for this one, it seems I'll have to find other sites.
I check back every so often to see if the site's creator has found a solution to the spam issue, and hope to be able to use it again one day. I hope things work out somehow! I miss using it!
I can't rate this site with 5 stars. I understand it's mostly run by one person, but after switching ISPs recently, I found myself banned. It's disappointing. As a college student, I used this site since middle school to wake up for classes. It was my favorite of its kind, but now that my current ISP is the best option in my area, I may have to look for alternatives. I check back occasionally to see if the creator has resolved the spam issue and hope to use it again someday. I really miss it!
I've been using this service for a long time. I enjoy the memes that pop up when the alarm goes off, but I'm disappointed that after moving and getting a new ISP, I found myself blocked. I'm guessing it might be a range issue? Is there a way I can get whitelisted to access the site again? I've tried other options while waiting for a resolution, but it’s been a couple of months, and nothing has changed. Unfortunately, the owner won't whitelist based on individual cases. It's disheartening, as I have no control over my ISP. Such a letdown.
This site truly deserves 5 stars, but I rated it 4 to grab the developer's attention. I've relied on it as my go-to alarm clock for many years, but I've been banned for an unknown reason for a while now. I genuinely like the site, and I'm a real user hoping to be unbanned. As a cybersecurity major, I understand the challenges, but can we have a conversation? Please let me know if we can discuss this. Thank you.
I got blocked, but I'm not upset about it. Recently, I tried visiting another site and it flagged me as a bot too. Kudos for protecting your platform. I've been using this site for about 18-20 years since I was a teen. Those complaining should find better things to do. It's a free service with a reliable alarm that genuinely helps me wake up. My spouse isn't a fan, but she doesn't need to wake up for work, so it’s fine. I will say, though, the memes have become increasingly wild! I’ve been surprised some mornings and just had to pause, alarm still ringing, to process it. Keep doing what you’re doing and ignore the negativity.
I absolutely LOVE this site. As a chronic procrastinator, the big red LED countdown really helps me manage my time. The hilarious, unhinged memes make it absolutely perfect. I find modern apps and sites overly complicated and 'aesthetic'—which makes them too soothing for combating procrastination. If this site were to go away, I would be devastated.
After 15 years of using this service, I find myself suddenly banned and see the owner dismissing complaints as fake accounts. Newsflash: if users are registering just to voice their concerns, it doesn't mean they're fake; it indicates a serious issue. I will miss this site, but the hassle and attitude aren't worth it.
I won't rate this with 1 star because, as someone who manages cloud/web services, I doubt a single person could afford robust DDoS protection for such a small project. Costs are astronomical; for someone trying to provide a useful service while relying on ad revenue, such measures aren't feasible. Thus, they opted for an ASN block, affecting one of the largest ISPs in the U.S. If the author's claims are accurate, it reflects poorly on that ISP for allowing cybercrime to occur via their infrastructure.
