Our beautiful Golden Retriever was quite suddenly taken ill with suspected pyometra two weeks ago. We immediately contacted the vet (it was 6.15pm in the evening) and explained her ailment. He said bring her right away owing to the symptoms we gave him. The vet examined Nell and scanned her, then went on to check her blood and urine. All okay. He said everything looked normal but he was still worried because of a raised temperature. We went away with antibiotics and advice to call if anything changed. The next day we contacted Sainsbury's Pet insurance and reported our problem. They liaised with the vets and the upshot was the claim was settled within days. Sainsbury's was very supportive and reassuring, and between them and our vets, the outcome was soon settled and Nell has recovered. Thank you again, Sainsbury's, it's good to know we can rely on your good service.
Highly satisfied with the ease and speed of claims processing. One of our dogs is healthy but was injured by another dog . Claim settled very swiftly and premium remains very reasonable. Our other dog developed epilepsy. Thankfully we chose the lifetime option. Premium is great value for the ongoing care.
Accepted the quote I found online to insure my 7 year old dog. They took payment then asking for further info through the ‘pet portal’. Today through the ‘pet portal’ they have put exclusions on the policy - if they had told me there were exclusions I would have gone elsewhere - what’s the point in insuring with a company that doesn’t want to give cover .
Now in my second year with Sainsbury’s pet insurance and needed to make a claim as my dog was showing signs of being pain. He had XRays, under sedation, and given medication to see if it would control the pain. The whole process was easy and the money from the claim was in my bank account within 5 days.Time will tell what effect claiming has on next year’s renewal cost.
Really good pet insurance company. One of my dogs is diabetic and so there are many claims per year for Insulin, syringes etc and all claims are paid really quickly. The only slight issue is that her premiums are almost doubling year on year for her (£19 before the Diabetes then £45 then £79) whereas my other two dogs' premiums are going up at a lesser rate (extra £10 or so each year) so I do feel it's a little unfair to say you will cover a dog for life but then when they develop a condition their premiums rise more than usual. That said, other pet insurance companies would probably be the same.
