This course is important because it demonstrates great best practices and the content is clear and easy to understand. I’m a Spanish-speaking student, yet I’ve been able to follow the pace very well. The only thing I feel is missing would be practical exercises for each important lesson — I think that would boost the learning experience even more.It would also be very helpful if the course subtitles were available in more languages besides English and German.
I recently completed the "Building Industry-Level Kotlin Backends With Spring Boot" course from PL Coding GmbH and found it to be exceptional. The system design presented was incredibly polished and insightful, offering a genuine look into real-world, high-level architecture that immediately revealed areas for growth in my own knowledge. It prompted a deeper consideration of when and why advanced frameworks are necessary. While the architecture was impressively mature and comprehensive—which was great—it was also heavy to digest upfront. I believe the learning curve could be smoother with an initial "lite" version focusing on core functionality before integrating complex aspects like Distributed Events and Rate Limiting. Also, concepts like the concurrent hashmap for chat were hard to visualize in the short segments provided. However, this is minor constructive feedback, as the overall quality of the content is undeniable. The most rewarding feeling was successfully deploying the solution in a truly proper, industry-level manner.Highly recommended for anyone looking to bridge the gap between hobby coding and industry-grade back-end development.
As a full time Android developer, I take Philipp as my senior mentor, every new course he publishes I buy instantly, I trully learn a lot from him, wether it's architecture, best practices, new trends and much more. Also my seniors in my job really impressed from my progress.
Overall the courses are well explained and I really enjoy the fact that some of the courses are tailored for more experience developers. Philipp shows also its owns "errors" while developing and how he goes around fix them which is helpful.Only point I would raise however is that as I am going through the Bundle of "Building Industry-Level" backend and compose apps, I noticed that tests are out of scope, which in my opinion should not be for a industry-level app.Anyway still a great course and if you are an experience developer, you should be able to test it yourself.
I finished the 12-week Android Development mentorship by Philipp and his whole team from PL Coding. I can clearly say that my knowledge base and my skill level around modern Android development took a huge step forward during these weeks. They reviewed every line of code that I wrote and gave me great, detailed and constructive feedback on how to improve it. They challenged me not to make things easy, but rather smarter to have a flexible and scalable code base. Communication has been great. Every question that I may had was answered with a lot ot details and background infos. If you want to improve your skills in Android development I can 100% recommend Philipp`s courses and mentorship.
I have just finished the 12-week mentorship program focusing on Native Android app development. I am very satisfied with the experience, I feel like I have been able to take away with me skills and knowledge of the native android framework, as well as a professional-level project that I can share with employers. The 12-week program begins with the project requirements for a calendar application with figma designs and api documentation. Since the API is already built for you, you can focus on building the app. From there, it was open ended to me to decide what and how much to code each day, and I would proceed to submit a pull request to be reviewed 3-5 times a week to receive feedback to revise and work on the next feature I chose. I would say the bulk of the value you are getting is combined in the project preparation and the availability and quality of the reviews in the pull requests. I have done other workshops and courses in the past, and this one is unique in that the mentors do not prescribe a schedule of tasks to do over the 12-week period, nor do they start with any instruction on how-to to build any particular component. I was on my own to figure out what to build, as well as looking up how to accomplish that specific subtask. While a little scary at first, by the middle of the mentorship, I got used to the cycle of picking up the next feature I wanted to build and learning the right way to build it. I would say this in itself is a valuable mindset to gain, that not only gives me confidence as an engineer to take on unknown technologies and features, but has given me a more personal relationship with coding as I am now more comfortable with the practice of exploring whatever topic or technology I choose. I will say that it’s important to allocate enough time to this program. Just as with any engineering project it’s easy to underestimate how much time it takes to build something. I spent about 10-15 hours on the first 8 weeks, and knowing what I wanted to accomplish, increased my time spent to 30-50 hours a week for the last 4 weeks of the program. There is time that needs to be spent not just coding, but looking up different topics to fully understand them as well as understanding issues and refactoring as your project grows.
