The products from Coastal Community Bank, which Prosper is one of are horrible. If you are being targeted by them, you are problem experiencing credit problems or have, this is the bottom feeder approach they have. Be warned, their customer support is horrendous and they quite frequently reduce credit lines or cancel accounts. This can make your situation even worse.
If they had a good product they would not have to try to change names and hide who they are. I would recommend people avoid Prosper and the other brands associated tiwht Coastal Community
My experience was dreadful with this service. I took out a loan and ended up being scammed significantly. I paid $7,000 in interest on a $14,000 loan. My credit score was 680 at the time, and I was assured a 6% interest rate, but it turned out to be over 50%. Additionally, they deducted a $500 fee before the funds reached my account. The application process included fine print allowing them to electronically sign on my behalf once approved, which they exploited. I’m relieved that I’m nearly finished paying off this awful service. Please learn from my mistake and avoid them.
I strongly advise against applying without understanding the challenges I faced while seeking a loan. Initially, I had a $10k loan that I paid off early, leading me to believe obtaining a second loan would be straightforward. However, after receiving a pre-approval, the process took a turn. They conducted a hard inquiry, and only then did they request extensive documentation for loan approval. If you're comfortable with a hard inquiry followed by additional requirements, that's your choice. I encountered difficulties due to a new bank account opened after experiencing fraud on my previous one. Despite providing documentation for both accounts, they couldn't proceed, citing issues related to the second account. They requested multiple documents, including two payroll stubs and two months of bank statements, but I ended up canceling my request because they were not satisfied with the information I provided. Ultimately, I am left with a hard inquiry and no loan.
The company refuses to delete customer data despite a major data breach where my social security number was compromised. I have no loans with them; I simply checked my eligibility once. After several requests for data deletion due to their failure to secure it, they outright denied my request. They claimed that since my state lacks a law mandating deletion upon request, they would not comply. I can no longer trust this company with my data, and I advise others to be cautious as well.
