I was forced to pay for a subscription because a design contractor had used QR-code.io to make a QR code for printed material without realizing that it was only a free trial and that we would have to pay to have the QR code continue to work. (It worked when we printed and distributed the materials, and then stopped working.) This created a huge mess.I went through onboarding myself to see if she missed something obvious, and it was not obvious at all that we would later need to pay. Nowhere in the creation process was payment mentioned.It seems like the company does this intentionally to trick people into paying for subscriptions.
