I can't believe this company is still in business. Despite what they say, Recon Engines are the rebranded Sian Autocentre. Research these links before using their services (I've had to remove them as the review doesn't allow but google them and append with BBC)

The rebuild tactic is to give you a reasonable initial quote, get a deposit from you before dismantling, once dismantled, the quote will double with expensive 'failed' ancillaries etc. You will be requested to pay the more to commence with the work and then the balance before the car is released. If you don't adhere to this, you will be threatened with £50+VAT per day standing charges. Any issues which come about after will not be addressed if they are not within their scope of works, even if it comes about as a result of the works.

As a human, I am posting this to sincerely warn others about this company. Customer service is very poor, the premises are packed to the rafters with cars and I saw no more than 6 or 7 mechanics during my visits which indicates to me that they are probably over trading.

Their terms and conditions absolutely rule out any comeback on their services and render them virtually unaccountable for any work they do. The warranty that you get requires you to have the car serviced by them to be valid so more income and pain. They obviously write their own reviews to keep their rating up, well here's another (truthful) review to keep it where it should be (low).

If you need to have your engine reconditioned or replaced, you'd be better off paying more with someone else then to use this outfit, the horror stories in the shared links should tell you all you need to know.

I will share my experiences on every motoring forum I am a part of and every social media platform I am member of to try to stop anyone else having the experience I have just been through with this company - the reputational damage will be joy to behold.

Recon Engines, you've ripped off the wrong person this time, I will not let this rest.

NB: One star awarded as you cannot post with less otherwise so an inaccurate rating

Reconmyengine ltd This company is just a scam who takes your money and runs

This company is just a scam who takes your deposit palms you off to a 3 party Company. Who I was passed to A&A engines who couldn’t even collect my engine for reconditioning after 4/5 phone calls made by myself still never collected my old engine block And when you email reconmyengine you get no reply or if you call the company it rings once then cuts off so no way of contacting them 100% scamming company and left me £200 deposit out of pocket So avoid this company I believe in karma it will get you in the end

Appalling company who give you the impression that you are buying an engine from them but they are merely a broker they will ask you for a deposit for an engine which is Purely there brokers fee then hand you over to a 3rd party company who are equally appalling I am currently 1,873.00 down by using this company who failed to respond to any communications and have now had to take legal action as I have lost the money and never recieved the engine

Absolutely disgusting company

Absolutely disgusting company. Paid the deposit for a fully reconditioned engine then sent me the details of the company supplying the engines. 3 faulty engines were sent not even reconditioned. Damaged dirty oil in them. I am taking Oldham engine ltd to court. How can they recommend a cowboy outfit like this.Reconmyengine.com stay clear!

Risky business?

Made an order, they requested 15% deposit payment by bank transfer (cash) not the 10% by secure card as advertised and as per invoice. Unexplained differing bank accounts between invoice and demand. Friendly Helpdesk but non-personal, terse, unfriendly response emails. Be cautious using this company as your money may be at risk?

Zero trust, zero communication.

I bought an engine from this company. Terrible service! Engine finally came 3 weeks later. Also did not reimburse when they took my old engine. No communication as they don't answer calls or emails. No receipt other than for the initial deposit. Engine comes with a new timing chain which you have to fit and there is nothing to say it's been bench tested. You also need to buy the timing chain cover separately.
