I booked a hotel through a third party and was offered the Refund Protect service for an extra $250 to allow for late cancellations. Unfortunately, my mother, who is battling cancer, entered hospice care sooner than anticipated, prompting me to request a refund. Refund Protect then stated that my mother's cancer was a "pre-existing condition," which disqualified me from receiving a refund.
