We did not choose this service directly — our case was assigned to them by another firm without our input. From the beginning, communication was inadequate. We received contact information for numerous individuals and a general inbox, with no clear person responsible for our file. As clients situated overseas relying on email, we found ourselves repeatedly chasing for basic timelines and next steps. After multiple follow-ups went unanswered, the only reply we got was an automated out-of-office notification stating the firm would be closed until 2 January. There was no prior notification about this closure, no updates on our case, and no alternative contact — if we hadn’t reached out, we would have been left in the dark about any progress. When we expressed our concerns and left a candid review, the firm reacted defensively, claiming their standard email response time is 5–7 working days, and then they completely stopped representing us, returning our case to the original firm. This led to lost time, additional delays, and the necessity to start over with a new service, through no fault of our own. Instead of addressing the communication issues or taking responsibility, the firm opted to disengage from us as clients. Sadly, this experience aligns with the concerns noted in many other reviews — poor responsiveness, lack of accountability, and a total absence of client care.
Unable to award no stars which would be more fitting for this firm.Currently going through complaint process so won't bore you with the details but please avoid this company at all costs. They are slow, agreed sale of property in June and to date still have not completed!! No support or understanding given to a client who is Neurodivergent.
People were constantly unavailable to talk to and uncommunicative. They constantly passed the buck for errors made onto other departments and members.The crescendo came when it was found that the mortgage had not been extinguished, three weeks AFTER the sale had completed! Meaning that legally, it hadn't. Tanya Hatton was by far the rudest and merely said it wasn't her responsibility but that of the accounts department, and gave my brother-in-law their phone number to 'contact them directly to deal with it'.
I found Ross Coates company staff to be polite, professional and very supportive through the whole process of selling my home, in particular Tanya Hatton & Karen Williams, they both walked me through the whole process, always helping to understand legal process, they always had the time to listen to my concerns and advise me accordingly. AVOID AVOID AVOID !!!! If i wasnt so deep in id switch companies . You never get updates , when you call and if they answer you get fobbed off. Everything minellium legal promised with this company has been lies . No online portal , extra fees to check finaces, extra fees to deal with another solicitor. Ive called today an was told id be called back and now they are closed! My buyers want to complete next week and Ross Coates know this but nothing is being done . I want to cry, I've been in hospital due to the stress of this useless company. The property is am moving to is chain free so should be very simple !We are now 17 weeks in and still no further forward .

I wish I had never dealt with Ross Coates Solicitors. From start to finish, the experience was chaotic, unprofessional, and deeply frustrating. Communication was poor, deadlines were constantly missed, and I often felt completely ignored.What’s worse is how little transparency there was — I never felt confident that my case was being handled properly or that anyone truly cared about the outcome. The entire process left me feeling misled and taken advantage of.In my opinion, their conduct was completely unacceptable and bordering on unethical. I’ve never encountered a firm that showed such disregard for professionalism or basic client care.I would urge anyone considering Ross Coates Solicitors to think twice before engaging them. There are far better, more competent firms out there that will treat you with honesty and respect.
