Review Time
I had a fitting on 22 Nov in East Dulwich.
The lenses were issued 7 Jan in Sydenham without proper re-check or consent.
From day one, they were unwearable — residue, discomfort, zero adaptation.
I reported this immediately. No reply.
I followed up again. Still no reply.
I forwarded the full case to the General Optical Council. Silence continued.
No apology. No explanation. Nothing.
They might be more invested in other patients.
Polite on the surface — selective in practice.
But for me, I took it that their silence was intentional — a clean refusal, not neglect.
This entire setup felt like a trap — clean, polite, and empty. A false mirror of care.
It became evident that this was not a mistake. The goal maybe was to waste my time and block my access to real correction for whatever reason.
I will still get what I came for — dual axis correction.
Now without them.
31st of January 2026 – Update
They’ve edited their response three times.
Not once did they apologise.
The version that I ignored their contact attempts is false.
In reality, I emailed repeatedly. They ignored everything. Zero contact. Zero support. Zero follow-up.
Now, suddenly, here — in public — they remember the case.
Because reputation matters.
But 1-to-1, when it mattered — they vanished.
This is the lowest kind of mask:
– presentable to the field,
– accusatory to the patient.
Their only goal now is to rewrite what happened — to make it look clean.
It’s not clean.
It’s not forgotten.
And it won’t be rewritten.
I had a mixed experience. The optometrist was excellent, friendly, and efficient. However, when I returned to collect my glasses and asked about my new varifocals, I was told there was nothing to worry about. Unfortunately, I found them challenging to adjust to, leading to dizziness and headaches. When I returned to express my concerns, they were kind and acknowledged that I should have received a thorough explanation on acclimatizing to the new glasses. It was disappointing that they couldn't find the card with the necessary information. They seem to have good intentions and promised to learn from this oversight; I sincerely hope they do.
