I'm absolutely overwhelmed with the customer care offered by Starling when I had to close an account recently. Their staff were so kind especially Hannah who was the lady who was helping with my situation. She went above and beyond what I would expect of a bank by contacting me a few days after the account had been closed to see if I needed any further help. I've never been offered such help before by a bank - thank you!

Cannot set up a sole trader account for a new business without proof that you are already running a fully-fledged business, complete with contracts and suppliers. How you achieve all this as a first-timer, before having any form of business account in place, is beyond me.

Starling is a refreshing change from the ‘traditional’ banking organisations I’ve previously held accounts with. As an Internet bank, the most important method of communication as far as I’m concerned is the app, and the Starling app is excellent. It’s user friendly with all vital features available within a couple of clicks, it’s simple to use, and it lets me do my banking quickly and in complete safety. Starling’s Spaces feature, which allows you to create ‘sub-accounts’ within your main account, allows you to separate your bill money from your spending money from your saving up for something special money, with separate debit cards for each, enabling easy management of your finances and less “whoops I spent the leccy money” moments.

A feature I personally think is great, that I didn’t have with my previous bank, is the upcoming transactions feature which shows you planned money coming in or going out a couple of days before the transaction actually takes place, so you don’t get any ‘unpleasant surprises’ you forgot about. Paying in money is also quick and simple, with bank transfers nearly always instantaneous and cash deposits merely involving a quick trip to the local post office, much closer for me than bank branches which seem ever rarer these days.

Their customer service team respond quickly and helpfully and deal with any queries efficiently and professionally.

Starling has been my primary bank for several years now, and I’ve not had a single bad experience with them, in fact the opposite is true - it’s one good experience after another. I am incredibly happy with Starling and would recommend them to anybody, well anybody except people who are petrified of smartphones I guess 😂

What I love about Starling is how easy it is to use, not only at home but abroad too. We as a family individually opened accounts before travelling to Florida when Starling was very new. Our daughter has a kite card and loves the independence it gives her. The Mastercard exchange rate means its more convenient than carrying cash. The app is easy to navigate and when I have had a problem (scammers) its been sorted so quickly, really cutting down the stess. I suggest Starling to anyone who will listen.

Starling is intuitive and easy to use. Does everything I want from a bank in a really easy way. Makes the "old school" banks seem clumpy and cumbersome. I have both my business and personal accounts with Starling. Saving spaces are amazing for keeping cash separate for saving up for something special, or just making sure you have money to pay a one off bill. Excellent all round!

Disappointed with the service despite positive feedback.

I had high expectations based on reviews, but unfortunately, they couldn't assist me. They claim to offer multiple accounts or 'spaces', but in reality, you can only transfer funds in and out of one account. Any other transactions must be handled manually from the main account. This doesn't work for me.
