The site is overwhelming. After signing up, I was immediately inundated with messages from teachers and even received multiple phone calls while at work. They likely have a setup where you 'agree' to this, but I can't imagine anyone wanting such an experience; it feels like door-to-door sales. When attempting to reach a teacher, I encountered a paywall described as a 'student pass,' yet one teacher still managed to respond despite this. It's unfortunate because I wanted to support an alternative site rather than a more popular one, but I suppose I should choose them instead if this is what I must endure.
This is yet another platform that has declined over the years. It was functional for me in the past, but now customer service seems nonexistent, and there are numerous AI bots pretending to be teachers. This platform, like many others, is subpar unless you're one of the few long-established members. I wouldn't recommend it for newcomers unless you're one of those 'teachers' who inexplicably undervalue your services by charging a fee that undermines the industry.
As a language teacher, I've used this platform for years. Initially, it worked well. Teachers would pay to promote their profiles, and students could browse without charge. Recently, the company became excessively greedy, charging students too. A student of mine informed me they were charged without consent when they didn't need to find a new teacher. I've also learned that the company is redirecting students who respond to one teacher to others, benefiting themselves. For long-time teachers, we build references over the years to help students vet us, making it hard to switch platforms. Unfortunately, my student inquiries have dropped by at least 80% compared to previous years, so I advise other teachers to seek other advertising options.
I've faced numerous issues with this company over five years. They have incorrectly billed me multiple times, and I’ve never received any response to my complaints. They also charge potential students to contact teachers. I will never use this platform again, just like many of my fellow teachers.
