The dispatcher called to say they were running an hour behind schedule. Once they arrived they got the 3 bed move done quickly.

The worst…

I never worked with such a horrible moving company. Not only was their customer service some of the worst ive ever experienced but after waiting for what seemed ages, the amount of broken items received you would think they would charge less than what their prices currently are (theyll scam you for every cent if they can be careful).

I would not recommend Vanity Van Lines

I would not recommend Vanity Van Lines, especially for a move from Alaska.During the booking process, I believed I was hiring an actual moving company. After my deposit was taken, I later found out that Vanity Van Lines is operating as a broker, essentially a one-man operation that does not handle the move themselves. The shipment was subcontracted to a third-party carrier that turned out to be the worst carrier I have ever experienced.Once the job was handed off, communication became extremely frustrating. Pickup windows shifted, delivery timelines were vague, and getting reliable updates was nearly impossible. Whenever issues came up, I was sent back and forth between the broker and the carrier, with no clear ownership or accountability. The lack of transparency was the most disappointing part. It was never clearly explained that they would not be the company physically moving my belongings. That is something customers deserve to know upfront before paying a deposit.Moving out of Alaska is complicated enough without added stress. This experience made an already challenging relocation much harder than it needed to be.If you are considering this company, make sure you understand whether you are hiring a direct carrier or just a broker before signing anything.

BUYER BEWARE – BAIT AND SWITCH, BROKER SCAM

This company destroyed our moving experience.Vanity Van Lines quoted us $5,999 for a move from Hawaii to New York and took a 20% deposit. They spent nearly two hours on the phone reassuring us they were professionals with their own trucks and crews.None of it was true. They are brokers who send random contractors. The movers showed up in a U-Haul truck. They smoked while handling our belongings and appeared completely untrained. After loading half the truck, they demanded an additional $5,000 immediately.Vanity Van Lines would not answer calls. They disappeared. When we refused to pay more money, the movers dumped our belongings on the lawn and drove away.We were left stranded and betrayed. This company takes your deposit and abandons you.Avoid Vanity Van Lines at all costs.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

If you’re considering Vanity Van Lines, I highly recommend a different strategy: set your furniture on fire and watch it burn. It will be faster, less stressful, and you’ll at least know where your belongings are. This was hands down the most chaotic, unprofessional, and baffling moving experience I’ve ever had. Communication was nonexistent, timelines were treated like vague fan fiction, and the handling of my furniture looked less like “moving” and more like an audition for a demolition crew.At several points I genuinely wondered if this company was some kind of social experiment to see how much frustration a customer can tolerate before losing their mind. The most impressive part is the consistency — every single step of the process managed to go wrong. Delays, confusion, zero accountability… it’s like they sat down and asked, “What’s the worst possible way to run a moving company?” and then committed to the bit.If incompetence were an art form, Vanity Van Lines would be the Louvre. One star only because the review system won’t let me give negative five.

Terrible Experience

Terrible communication. They hired an incompetent sub-contractor to handle the move. I was lied to multiple times by both companies, Vanity Vanlines and Trueload Transportation LLC. I paid extra for the insurance and some items got damaged due to improper packing done by TrueLoad. The insurance would not pay. For example: Big screen TV was wrapped in moving blankets and was damaged beyond repair. Insurance required TVs be boxed. The TV packing was supposed to be included in the original contract. Shipment was to be delivered into the house upon arrival with boxes placed in the rooms labeled on the cartons. Movers would only deliver entire shipment to the garage! Terrible experience

Watch out for this company

Josh was who i talked to. Quoted me $2900, which i had mention for 800 cu ft and he agreed. 2 day before the move, QA called to confirm what i have which he quoted $6701 for 941 cu ft because josh didn’t put me as 800 cu ft, but 567 which later i called josh about, but he denied ever have that conversation. QA finally drop the price down to $4860s for 767 cu ft of items which i measure and gave him the numbers and between the conversation i was threaten by them that they would cancel my move if i don't sign which they had my $1000 deposit which they claimed non-refundable. I was told they can drop the price further if my stuff decrease between now and moving date (2days after). I threw away my 3 seater sofa. Sold my 7 piece room set which “includes king size bed frame, head board, 2 night stand dresser, 1 tall dresser, 1 large wide dresser with mirror, and 1 bed bench” and measure the night before the move and knock my stuff down to 600 cu ft. On the moving day. The mover came in, i told them i took a-lot of large size item off for a price change. They say they won’t change the price, but instead they quoted me $7200 for the move. They refuse to count or measure my item. I tried calling vanity van line, but they wont pick up, until i finally sign with the mover then vanity van line finally pick up. The $7200 they charged ($600 which was the packing material which was prepaid, but apparently they charge differently and added the extra $600). They also changed the contract of 15 step stairs to 7 step stairs. Yes for every 7 step $75 extra. Vanity van line assure me that they are going to make the mover do the item measurement once they get to the storage instead of measurement by how they load the truck. A few days later i called vanity van line about this situation. They didn’t know what i was talking about and there was no note mentioning of this situation until i explain it to them. So they didn’t do anything after they assure me of what they going to do. They told me to email them of my complaint. I emailed them my complaint and called them several time. Each time in the call they kept saying they are working on it but no result after a week. And my email, they denied my claims and never mention they are going to make the mover measure my stuff. They did nothing at all until i file complaints with the BBB. After i file with the BBB and i called them, they were rude, saying we are not going to talk to you since you file with BBB and there nothing to talk about. The result for this company is i was baited $2900, put in a non-refundable deposits of $1000. Threaten by QA between my move of cancelling my move with my non-refundable deposit of $1000 for the price of 4800 and have to add another $1200 in deposit of non-refundable deposit. Total $2200 deposit. On final pick up day, they change the price again to $7200. If i don't go with it, i would lose that $2200 deposit. My stuff not being moved and loses $2200.They put you in a situation where either you accept their price term or not being able to move and loses $2200.A completely bait and switch scam. Please watch out for this company.

Mover tried to scam us

When the actual mover (I believe it was 1st Choice Moving and Storage) showed up the very first thing he said was that he guaranteed “some guy in an office in FL” didn’t really know what we were moving so the quote wouldn’t be right. He tried to double our quoted price, even claiming there were items not on the list, which was not true. He wrote (and I still have a copy) items like tvs, wardrobe boxes, a bunk bed (we do not own), a ladder, and a sofa - all of which were included on the quote I received from Vanity Vanlines during our final QA call (which I also still have a copy of). In addition he added some items like “shuttle”, an additional fuel surcharge, and several items that were completely illegible. When we rebuffed his new quote and called Vanity Vanlines, he immediately dropped from $5400 to $5200. When Mom got involved, he dropped from $5200 to $4700. When we sent them away because they were still $1500 over the final QA quote we’d received from Vanity Vanlines, he texted Mom that he would do $4700. Shortly thereafter, both of us received phone messages from some lady in a local office saying that “after talking to everyone” she had a new quote. We chose to go a different route rather than deal with someone who seemed shady. I believe this dude thought he could scam a single young woman. Further, after Mom called the Vanity Vanlines representative we’d been working with for the last few weeks (immediately after hearing the mover was trying to inflate the bill), we never heard another word from Vanity Vanlines. Not a peep.
