In 2023 my wife and I walked the final 100km of the Camino Frances from Sarria to Santiago de Compos

In 2023 my wife and I walked the final 100km of the Camino Frances from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, (organised by Walkers World).
We enjoyed this experience so much that we contacted Walkers World again to organise walking the entire 800km Camino Frances in 2025. We broke the trip into two 400km segments in order to meet some commitments at home. We walked the first 400km from St Jean Pied de port to Carrion de los Condes in May and the second 400km from Carrion de los Condes to Santiago de Compostela in September/October.
Walkers World organised our flights and trains. They liased with an excellent local Spanish company Tee Travel who arranged our accomodation, bag transfers meal packages and transfers.
We had extremely good communication and support in Spain from Tee Travel.
Walking the Camino was a truly life changing adventure which is hard to put in to words.
From the extraordinary views walking over the Pyrenees to the special moments retracing the steps of pilgrims who have walked this path since the ninth century. We walked over mountains, through villages, cities, countryside, and vineyards to the cathedral in Santiago.
We also enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow pilgrims from all around the world of all different ages stages of life and religions. Everyone had a story and a reason for undertaking their Camino.
We also loved the food including the pilgrims meals, Basque cheesecake, tortilla and Santiago cake.
The walk is a challenge but the package put together by Walkers World enabled us to do "our Camino" and make it to Santiago de Compostela.
For anyone wanting a detailed day to day description of the walk reading
"The French Way:trekking the 40 Day El Camino de Santiago" by New Zealander Lorraine Thomson is helpful. The author also used Walkers World to make her travel arrangements.
Buen Camino!

DONT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY

Communication from the start with A Walkers Workd ( Auckland) was not prompt I frequently had to follow up my emails with a phone call to get a response. We have just completed the Lombardy Lakes self guided tour which they organused through Due Route nel Vent. The positives are the accommodation was mostly as expected and in good locations .The negatives are the company they sub contract to did not provide what we had booked. Ie the bikes were meant to come with a phone holder, bike lock each but we got 1 between 2. After some communication once we had started they accepted we would not be held responsible for bike theft , as they refused to provide lock per bike as paid for.The itinerary had not been updated. So to come across closed roads and cycling on track that said No cyclists is not service. We assume from storm several weeks prior There was no communication from the company re these changes to the track. When the bikes were dropped off very limited info was given by a person who did nit speak Englush. Other times from other companies they have checked all were familiar with the bikes. There are numerous companies that provide this service. I suggest you check other options and not use a third party

Southern Spain Coastal Explorer cycle tour

Our Southern Spain cycle tour was an awesome experience! It was everything and more we had wished for. Stunning scenery, lovely weather and fabulous little inland and coastal villages to stay in. Travelling by bike really allows you to soak in the countryside and explore areas you possibly wouldn’t go to by car.

Walking tour of the Gironde

We recently spent time in the Gironde area, close to Bordeaux, walking from St Emilion to Sauternes. The walks were enjoyable and gave us time to enjoy the beauty of the French countryside away from large crowds. Walkers World gave us a guide book and app to keep us on track and the B&Bs were first class with more than ample breakfasts included in the price. I would certainly use them again without hesitation. The only issue we had was that the trials need to be resurveyed by WW and brought up to date as we ended up off piste a couple of times.

Challenging but rewarding experience

Hubby and I did the Mont Blanc West Self-Guided hiking tour in September 2025. The organisation from Walkers World was really good. We were provided instructions for downloading an app with all the information we needed and it worked offline. We are both in our 50's and pretty fit but it turns out, I wasn't quite fit enough. The hikes were really tough - very up and very down. Hubby loved it. Loved the challenge and pushing himself, I on the other hand, loved the views and the wildlife, just not the challenging downs. There are some great paths and some areas where there are none and you kinda head the direction that feels right. Thankfully it mostly was... except when we followed someone thinking they were going the same direction as us and after half an hour of walking down a lovely path, hubby's watch vibrated and he said "wait up... oh we need to go back up" as we went left instead of right. Oh and the reason it took so long for the watch to let him know we were on the wrong path is because connection can get lost. The places Walkers World organised were fantastic. The included breakfasts were really good and the bags were always collected and at our accommodation when we finally arrived.I had a bit of an injury on the second to last hike so we decided we wouldn't do the last hike and called the emergency line to find out how we could get to Bourg Saint Maurice and they were so very helpful and organised us a taxi from Les Contamines and although it was expensive, it was worth it - turned out my foot had two stress fractures - and all the hassle of public transport would have been too much. The weather meant we didn't get as fantastic views as some will get but the cloud made for some spectacular views anyway. TL/DR: if you are planning on hiking Mont Blanc, Walkers World are great and provide very good information.Mont Blanc has some challenging ups and downs, especially if you're less than 5 foot 7, don't have good leg or arm strength to clamber up or down rocks or stamina to keep going when it's tough.PSA: make sure all them muscles and stuff around your knees are strong for the downs.

Beyond expectations

The planning of this bike and boat trip was flawless. We joined a lovely group of bikers. The bike was satisfactory and the guide allowed my daughter to upgrade to an e-bike for a couple of days. The tour guide was fantastic—knowledgeable and helpful. All good with bikers of varying ability. Croatia was wonderful from start to end, well beyond expectations.

Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela

We booked this ride through our travel agent in New Zealand starting from just outside Lisbon doing the coastal ride. As the timing of other group rides didn't suit our schedule it was just us and a guide for the first 6 days to Porto. We found our guide great and the ride was very scenic and mostly easy riding only a few off road trails that should not have been included as they were over grown and impassable. We were glad to have had a guide in these situations as we would have had to work out an alternative route ourselves. After spending 3 days in Porto having a rest we self guided over 6 days to Santiago de Compostela. Again easy to follow GPS we only had a few issues on a day where we were taken through the middle of a very large city that was extremely hard to navigate and our longest days ride and the hilliest. At time we felt we were riding in someone's back yard but we had no trouble understanding when we were being told off. All in all a very enjoyable experience. Bikes were great, bag drop everyday was seamless, accommodation outstanding.

Fabulous bike ride in the Algarve

The trip was amazing. The accommodation exceeded expectations, we loved arriving each afternoon to a swimming pool and a great room. The e-bikes were very comfortable and we never ran out of battery power. It was great having the options of more or less off road each day and the GPS Ride app got us to where we needed to be. It was essential to have a power bank with us to keep the phone charged while navigating with the app. We got to see a variety of landscapes from coastal to inland and were lucky enough to see baby storks in their nests. There were plenty of places to stop along the way for a drink or food and being self guided we could stop wherever we liked. The bags were moved to our new accommodation each day, ready and waiting when we arrived. The staff at the hotels made us feel welcome when we arrived, one even going out of his way to bring wine to the poolside for us. The length of the rides each day allowed for a leisurely start in the morning and still arrive with time to relax by the pool or do some sight seeing. Most of the riding was pretty easy but there were a couple of more challenging off road bits. Apparently a huge amount of rain had fallen recently and that damaged some tracks which would account for it. I would defintely use this company again. My only concern is that this trip was so good it could be hard for the next trip to match it!
