They can close your account and keep your funds

I registered with WhaleFin last November, even going through KYC. Today I received an email from them (reproduced below) saying that since my account was “dormant,” they would close it at the end of the month, and that I had to withdraw any remaining funds by then.Yup. You read that right. Because I didn’t log in since November, they gave me a three-week notice — after which they would close my account AND KEEP MY FUNDS.Fortunately, my financial situation being what it is, I had not yet transferred anything to this account, but please read their email and you’ll see that it is NOT why they called the account “dormant” (since they mention the possibility of funds being on the account). Many people don’t feel the need to log in regularly to an account where they decided to leave their funds mature for years. Can you imagine being one of those people and not reading your three-week notice in time (because you’re overworked, or hospitalized, or even on vacation, or simply because their email ended in the junk folder) and finding too late that WhaleFin closed your account and seized the funds you’d entrusted them with? This must have happened already, of course, and more than once. It’s just another way for WhaleFin to make money, I suppose.Stay the **** away. Here’s their email:————————————————Dear client,We appreciate your continued trust and support in WhaleFin. As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of your account and enhance system performance, we’ve conducted a review and found that your account has been dormant for a long time. As a result, we regret to inform you that we will be closing your WhaleFin account on August 1, 2023, at 00:00 (UTC +8).Please note that after this deactivation date, your account will be permanently disabled. We kindly ask that you withdraw any remaining funds from your account as soon as possible and refrain from making any further deposits. We greatly appreciate your support and understanding in this matter. If you have any questions or require our assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team. We are always here to help.Thank you for your attention to this important matter.Sincerely,WhaleFin Support————————————————[2023-07-10 UPDATE]Sian, from WhaleFin's customer service, answered my email by saying that an account on which money was deposited would never be declared dormant. When I pointed to the section of their warning email that suggests otherwise, Sian answered this: "Please note it is kindly reminder as for some cases even though the client never made any deposits, but the account still has the balance which was distributed by platform reward. WhaleFin needs to remind the clients even though a small balance."So that explains it. I still want to leave my original review for everyone to see and make their own opinions, but considering how quickly WhaleFin responded to my emails and the cogency of their answers, I'll add three stars to my original one. Please consider my limited experience with WhaleFin when you weigh my review.
