Review of WHN Solicitors (, Family Law and conveyancing I would rate WHN 1 star if possible. My experience with solicitor Mr SP and the firm overall was damaging, costly, and deeply unprofessional.Billing was unclear from the start: phone calls were free, but once we met, every minute was billed without warning. More seriously, my solicitor (SP) confirmed I could email my ex under a non-molestation order. I followed his advice, was later arrested for breach, and this mistake damaged my child contact case for over a year. Follow-up was slow, statements were vague, and transcripts were requested far too late.Court hearings were repeatedly mishandled, with missing or late documents that made it look like I wasn’t taking proceedings seriously. On property matters, WHN delayed and even lost track of my file, causing my ex to withdraw from a buyout and leaving me at risk of losing my home. After filing my complaint, WHN claimed “the file is silent” on clear incidents of malpractice. They are sworn by oath to be honest, yet their findings felt like lies to protect their staff. They charged me close to £20,000 in a year, yet at my final hearing I was left without a solicitor and forced to instruct a barrister just days before. While my barrister was excellent, the short notice limited my options. WHN then blamed me for not submitting evidence on time—when in fact nobody from their side had prepared me because Stephen had stepped down.In my experience, WHN cannot be trusted. Their communication is slow, misleading, and dismissive. I had to chase them at every stage, and their complaint process downplayed serious mistakes that could have cost SP his job.Although SP can present well in court, WHN as a firm is careless, uncommunicative, and dishonest. I would strongly advise avoiding them at all costs. Since my response i have asked for call backs from senior members of staff for 3 days. I eventually spoke to the head of family law after repeatedly calling over 11 times back to back and trying his direct number 3 times. I informed him I was recording the phone call he got frustrated during the conversation and told me to "shut up" when asking for clarity despite him being recorded. I dont expect this from the director of a family law firm especially when I have such serious claims and hard evidence.
I searched for a reputable solicitors firm to carry out my Will and Lasting Power of Attorney for both myself and my husband. Woodcoks, Haworth and Nuttall were by far the most attentive and knowledgeable. We worked directly with Catherine. Catherine is efficient, clear and professional, yet has a wonderful balance of compassion and acknowledgement of sensitive situations. I’m not the best with legal terms yet Catherine was and is very capable of explaining things so that anybody could understand. This service was excellent value for money, Catherine is truly fantastic - any amendments were no trouble for her to change and she was very keen to make sure we were both fully comfortable with everything in our Wills and LPAs. Her secretary Gillian is so lovely too and will do what she can to accommodate diaries.Thank you so much!
Excellent service from start to finish. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Eleanor represented me and I felt she totally got me and the situation from the start. She listened, understood and helped me. Exactly what you need in a difficult situation.
We recently used WHN for the sale of our house and the purchase of another property, and they were fantastic throughout. The team were friendly, professional, and thorough, always quick to respond and keeping us well informed at every stage. Our house purchase unfortunately fell through twice, but Elizabeth Browning was incredibly adaptable and supportive, handling the setbacks calmly and efficiently. Thanks to her clear communication and proactive approach, the whole process felt much less stressful. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable and approachable solicitors.
I had the privilege of instructing Jennifer Prysiaznyj on my purchase. As a first time buyer I had no prior experience of the process, but Jennifer explained everything clearly and was always available via phone and email to answer any (mostly silly) questions I had. She was efficient, diligent and I would absolutely enlist her services again if/when the time comes. Thank you Jennifer and WHN!
Thanks to Elizabeth Browning and her colleagues Nick, Michaela and Anna we completed the sale eventually after 2 previous disappointments. Their patience was remarkable and the effort they went to, to get completion over the line , showed their dedication to their job.Well done and thank you all
