Review Time
Our takeaway was absolutely dreadful. The starter-to be shared-Seafood Spring Roll was burnt and had no lettuce as in the picture. The Pho Chicken Noodle Soup came with some rotting herbs but was plentiful. The Wok Fried Noodles Chicken and Prawn not only looked very unappetising but wasn’t enough to feed a small child and was a lump thrown into the box
First time trying Pho on a visit to Bluewater shopping centre.The food , service and ambience was excellent and I couldn’t fault anything. Never had Vietnamese food before so we were pleasantly surprised. Our waitress Kayla was exceptional and so attentive . Nothing was too much trouble. She is a credit to herself and the restaurant and well worth the tip. Definitely going again. Well worth a visit.
Our family always eat in Pho everytime we’re in Gunwharf. However, today’s experience is far different from our previous visits. We are group of 6 (3kids/adults). We came in around 5:40 pm and ordered our food. We ordered 4 kids meal and 6 starters + prawn crackers as the adults don’t feel like eating a big meal. I specifically said to our server if they can serve all the food at the same time. They served the drinks included in the kids meal straight away. Starters came in 10 mins after, we thought kids meal will be arriving shortly. However, after 15 mins of waiting. Our server came to us and ask how’s the food. I said we are still waiting for the kid’s meal. She went to the kitchen and when she came back to me. She said they’ve lost the other paper as there were 2 papers she gave to them. She re assured me that they preparing the food by that time. However, another 15 mins pass and still our food hasn’ arrived. Finally, Ewa ( who was the lady in charge that day) came and about to give us a totally different kid’s meal. By that time my son is already crying as he was really hungry. I went to the serving area and asked when is the food coming and what’s happening and why there’s a long delay. She denied that they lost the paper (which I assume that had the kid’s meal order). I insists that was not the case as per the server’s advise earlier. There were no apologies at all coming from the staff and even from Ewa who is in charge that day. After they served the kid’s meal after (almost 35 mins of waiting ). I noticed that they forgot to include rice in my son’s skewer chicken nugget. I called one of the server and told him they forgot the rice. He talked to the man who is not in black uniform, I assume he’s one of the senior that day. After that he came back to me and said rice is not included in the meal. I even needed to show to him the menu to pinpoin that rice is included. He came back and gave the rice. Again at that point no apologies from the staff. I hope their staff will have a better approach in this situation. There’s no customer service at all! And to Ewa who is in charge that day, you could have handled the concern appropriately but instead you chose not to care at all!!! You don’t deserve the service charge you are charging your customers!!!!
Whilst I cannot fault the food, our recent experience was both embarrassing and handled extremely poorly by the staff and subsequently by the regional manager when we raised concerns.If you are old school like me, I like to tip and reward good service, but take exception to an automatic assumption that 12.5% for service is added to every bill, irrespective of the service received. It is not a nice feeling to ask for the charge to be removed, so you can choose what you would like to leave.We were accused of not paying, when we had, we also had asked the restaurant to hold a takeaway as we were going to the cinema, only to return and they had thrown it away. Bearing in mind this was our property, bought and paid for, no effort was made to replace it, either at the time or subsequently following our complaint to head office. I have given the restaurant 2 opportunities to offer to replace our food that they disposed of and they failed to take the initiative. Much as the food is superb, we will not be returning to a restaurant that chooses to treat it's customers in this way.
⸻It was an unplanned visit, yet, as always, it turned into a wonderful experience. I enjoyed spring rolls with a delicious peanut butter sauce, a glass of freshly squeezed juice, and chicken noodles. We were warmly welcomed and served by the amazing Pawel- eloquent, witty, and highly professional. Thank you, PHO, for having such an exceptional team!
My daughter treated to me this evening to our Favourite Spicy Green Vegan Pho (House~Special) in Canterbury, must say that Saturday night dinners here lately have been top notch, mmm flavoursome Broth! And Fresh Bean sprouts, Leafs & Chilli 🌶. Perfect tonight, good portion of broth too. Happy! Keep it up.
Ok - I have no previous experience of Vietnamese cuisine so I am in no position to comment on the authenticity of the food that was served to us.But -The service was great, the atmosphere was friendly and the food tasted really good.I had the fish curry and my wife had the vegetarian rice bowl. The rice served on the side of my curry could have been warmer and when I mentioned this to our server, he immediately offered me a free desert. I said that it wasn't necessary but he insisted.The price was also very reasonable (by Bournemouth standards).
The staff were all on their phones. We were both trying to get their attention to pay the bill for a long time. Two members rushed passed us with us waving and loudly asking for the bill. My friend reached her hand out for his arm to get his attention, her hand got caught on his arm and pulled, he was shocked, she calmly asked for the bill. I then heard him complaining "she grabbed me!". No she didn't, and he was being a drama queen. He then just chucked the pay machine on the table. They were so rude, the food was abysmal and will never eat there again. Avoid!
