Review Time
For job seekers- It sucks. The system sends you multiple emails a day that have NOTHING to do with your resume/credentials. Being in environmental science, I was getting emails to work in Healthcare (0 medical training), nail salons, CDL drivers (I don't have CDL), and to become a Mechanic (only car maintenance ability I have is to give it a car wash). So super frustrating, not helpful, confusing layout because I think you need to pay to see certain jobs. Stick to Linkedin, Indeed, and State job boards.
As soon as I signed up for ZipRecruiter, I started receiving spam calls and messages. They said they had read my resume and were interested in hiring me. There were also many fake job postings, if not most of them. I reported them, and they would not get taken down. I deleted my account since I believe my information was being mishandled or shared, and it made me uncomfortable. I also noticed a large number of overly generic 5 star reviews, which raised concerns for me.
This platform is misleading. They never disclosed that their so-called "Premium" job postings cost over $30 each day when I submitted my listing. I believed I was enhancing my job visibility for a total of $50 for a few days. Instead, I was charged around $50. After a few weeks of receiving low-quality candidates, I decided to close the job listing because the better candidates were found on another site that charged me only about a quarter of the cost. When I reached out to them...
I was browsing temporary agency sites recently and uploaded my resume to one. Somehow, a certain platform obtained it and started bombarding me with emails. Initially, I thought it would be harmless to check their listings. However, everything they sent was completely irrelevant to my skills, like positions in veterinary care (I have no experience beyond owning a pet, which isn't on my resume) or listings that were already expired days before I received them. After unsubscribing, I expected the emails to stop, but instead, the number of irrelevant job postings increased dramatically: physicians, speech pathology, CDL truck drivers, and so on. My resume clearly indicates that I am not qualified for these roles. I tried reporting the spam, but more emails came through, still from the same automated sender. I attempted to reach out to the service via email, but only received a bot response regarding prospective employers. My next step is to contact the Better Business Bureau. Even after blocking the sender, I continue to receive emails. At this point, it feels like harassment. I never signed up for this service and have only previously used a different platform. This experience has been extremely frustrating, as I have clear qualifications that should match better with job listings.
