I’m disappointed with my recent experience. We purchased chicken from Alan’s Vietnamese store in Poplar on 12 March for £16. We have shopped there many times before without issues. When we opened the chicken on 14 March, it had clearly gone off, even though it was refrigerated immediately after purchase and the use-by date was listed as 16 March.

We returned to the store the same day to raise the issue and ask for either a refund or an exchange. Unfortunately, the staff refused to take responsibility and stated that because we came back two days later they could not help us. This was frustrating because the product should still have been safe to consume given the use-by date and proper storage.

What made the situation more disappointing was the lack of willingness to resolve the issue or offer any goodwill solution. As regular customers, we expected better customer service and some accountability for the quality of the food being sold.

I hope the store improves how it handles situations like this in the future, as food quality and customer trust are very important.

Quick delivery, Transparent information

This is the first time I have ordered a local delivery from Alans. I made the order mid-night and got the delivery at 12 pm the next day which is exactly the slot that I chose. I was given tracking information, a call, and a text to check if I would like a refund or a replacement for unavailable items. The delivery man was also very friendly and helpful. I would love it more if there had been more available products (quite a lot of products that were out of stock) and also more options to buy products in packs. Overall, I highly recommend this online service at Alan's.
