Review Time
My partner decided to sign us up to this to take some stress out our busy week but it's only caused us more stress.
Our first ever box, almost every single meal we chose was substituted with no warning or explanation, not only that but we got loads of duplicates as well when we ordered 10 different meals. Not great as a first impression. Also, 2 of the meals we received had the film lid peeling away at the edge so weren't properly sealed.
We decided to try a second week in case we just had bad luck the first time, but nope..
For our second order, the payment was taken a week ago and they charged full price then did a part refund (presumably as we had an introductory offer), not sure why it was done that way as it meant having more money taken than we expected, and refunds don't clear right away. No explanation given for why it was done like that.
We've also had no order confirmation and no update on delivery (when it should in theory be arriving tomorrow). Decided to cancel due to what a shambles this company is, but now due to not having an active subscription we can't even see any information on the account or check what meals we had ordered.
I have no idea how the company has such a high rating, it's been a disaster for us. Guess we'll see tomorrow if we are getting our delivery or not...!
The meals themselves are nice and convenient, but I didn't feel like they were noticeably better than any other 'premium' ready meal - I wouldn't pay £7+ per meal on a regular basis.
Given 2 stars instead of 1 because the meals themselves aren't dreadful, and because the company did give us a partial refund with minimal fuss, for the first box after it turned up with so many substitutions (though only after we contacted them about it to point this out). However overall, it's just been a very frustrating experience.
Three weeks in and its been great. Customer service has been friendly, Zidane was really helpful, and the food has been tasty. Once I started getting Simmer it turned out that 6 of my friends were already doing it too!
Geneuinely impressed all round.
Always been a bit hesitant on meal prep companies, but Simmer Eats looked to be the most fresh and flavourful. I was not wrong; the food has been delicious so far, and it tastes very homecooked which is hard to achieve at scale, so props to them!
I fell for another instagram scam. They lure you in with heavily discounted meals (they never actually state the true price of a meal) my first order worked out around £3.50 per meal. Perfect. However they automatically charge your account the day after delivery and take £120 for 15 meals. £8 each!
The website is awful. It should have been a red flag, pop up after pop up basically begging for your business. Then trying to cancel was like ending a relationship. Page after page to keep confirming I want to leave and cancel. I have no faith my account has been cancelled and I expect another £120 to be taken without concern.
Avoid
This company has just taken an unauthorised payment of £45.20 from me using my NatWest debit card and I haven’t even placed an order with them! Apparently looking at other reviews I’m not the first. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
We’ve been having Simmer Eats meals for the past two weeks and we’re honestly so impressed! Every meal has been fresh, full of flavour, and perfectly portioned. It’s made eating well so much easier without feeling restricted or bored – there’s such a great variety to choose from and everything tastes homemade.
A huge thank you to Marie for the amazing service/care and support. You can really tell there’s passion behind what you guys do. We’ve genuinely enjoyed every dish so far and look forward to continuing! I’ve put in for my next meals already. Highly recommend to anyone wanting convenient, delicious meals 🙌
Feel scammed massively. Food was blander than supermarket ready meal curry. I was actually sad every time I had to eat it, depressing experience and not a nice thing to go home to. Just showed with marketing you can really make people believe anything. Definitely riding on the cultural background to gain taste trust
Disappointed!
I saw their social media ads late one night and decided to try the 50% first-time offer, so I ordered 10 lunches. Then, just two days later, they charged me more than £100 again. When I contacted them, they said it was for a weekly subscription — no discount, nothing. I told them I didn’t want it and asked them to cancel, but they refused to cancel or refund my money.
What makes it worse is the delivery isn’t even due for another 6–7 days, yet they still won’t cancel it. This feels like a scam. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
Soggy, tasteless meals that are genuinely such low quality. For the price, you'd be better off getting a ready meal from M&S, it'd be cheaper and tastier.
The meals were high protein and filling so it wasn't all bad but there wasn't a single meal I had that I enjoyed without having to add seasoning. Their ordering process is not great, nor are the comms. No reminder emails and it was a bit difficult to find an invoice of how much I was actually spending each week.
Great for ease and filling meals but, based on taste, quality and price, I would not recommend.
