Review Time
Prior to our relocation across the Atlantic, we did a lot of research, and almost went for a more reputable moving company, but changed our minds last minute and went with Alfa, thanks to recommendations from some other expats.
BIG MISTAKE! Alfa may be cheaper when quoted, but then as time goes on, they start adding hidden fees that were not made clear, or are even contradictory to what the service agreement states!
Case in point:
1. We got quoted a price that did not include VAT, which, by law, must be included in quotes for private persons in Finland. We then got sent an invoice that was about €2000 higher than the quote, but upon complaining about this, they did admit fault (because they got caught?) and didn't charge us VAT.
2. They quote you carriers that may or may not actually serve your route, and this was the case for us. Instead, they suddenly forced us to pay €750 extra, as they claimed the carrier no longer runs the route they thought.
3. Upon our container arriving at the destination port in Oakland, CA, Alfa should've given us THREE "free days" to decide what to do next. Not only did they not do that (they gave us barely a day), but they didn't make it clear about any fees or that we had only 3 days to decide.
So, because they gave us so little time, we didn't have time to discuss and respond, so they decided—without our consent—to move our belongings into a warehouse and only AFTERWARDS tell us it costs us another €1000! At no point (contract, emails or phone calls) did they say we had to receive our things IMMEDIATELY or get a €1000 bill (in fact, during the initial call after arrival at port, they only casually asked us what we wanted to do, and didn't at all mention we had no choice)!
In subsequent emails with Alfa, they even contradicted their own service agreement by saying "Warehouse handling fees are a standard part of our process" (i.e. included in the quote), when it WASN'T included in the quote and not clearly laid out in the service agreement. Instead, they proceded to rudely blame us and offer no apology for THEIR mistake.
So yeah, AVOID ALFA, NO MATTER WHAT SOMEONE RECOMMENDS! They're borderline scammy in their practice, and take no responsibility for their own mistakes.

We moved from Sweden to the US using Alpha mobility. We went with them because they said there would be no hidden fees and that could give us peace of mind. Since our move in August, which was delayed, we have continued to receive bill after bill each for at least 500 dollars up to 2,000. It’s been a nightmare. Many of our things also arrived broken after inspection. The insurance worked, but our things weren’t cared for during inspection. I wouldn’t recommend this moving company for any aspect of their service.
My employer hired Alfa Moving (cannot speak to contract terms, prices etc.) for my move between two countries. The moving coordinator I talked to was very professional and responsive and the movers were very careful and respectful of my things in both the packing and unpacking, so I had a really good experience with them.
The Alfa team were very helpful in answering questions ahead of the move date. On the day, their staff helped packed and removed items ahead of a sea shipment. The packing was done carefully and my items arrived (Denmark - South Africa) with no breakages or losses. The only glitches were that one of the paid-for parking bays was used by someone who parked in the area after the area was cordoned off. Karolina was also helpful in following up during the move period and supporting with paperwork as needed.
Tamara has been so helpful during my relocation, and I believe she should have a 10-star rating in your 5-star system. She is not only doing her job to help her client, but also thinking about some information that her client might miss. For example, she drove around the city and patiently explained to me Vejle city, Danish culture, the food, etc. She also asked the landlord some important questions during our rental apartment visits. The most important thing is that she has given me a very positive impression of Denmark and Danish people, which is something outside of her job description. I cannot appreciate her enough for this collaboration journey!
We relocated to Copenhagen with my partner and got guidance by Alfa Mobility to help us with help in finding an apartment, getting registered as a citizen and partly organize our pre-location visit. We were linked with our relocation agent Rok, who went out of his way to help us with the houseviewings beforehand, kindly gave us the local tour and helped us very quickly in getting our CPR-registration. Would advise everyone a bit of Rok for a safe landing in Denmark ;)
