I had a terrible experience. I searched for a car rental in Birmingham, and this service appeared. The city clearly indicated Birmingham, UK, for my chosen date. After following the booking procedure, I was forced to sign a no-refund policy. Later, I discovered that my booking was fraudulently made for a car in the USA instead of the UK. I called within two hours to request a refund due to this error, but the representative claimed they would look into it, and nothing was done. This has been a horrible experience.
I spoke with a representative prior to my arrival and was sold an insurance policy as part of my booking. However, upon arriving at the rental location, I was informed that I needed to pay an additional £40 for protection to avoid a £1500 excess charge on my credit card. This requirement was not mentioned anywhere in the terms and conditions during the purchase. When I asked for a refund, I was told it couldn't be guaranteed. I was given the option to cancel my booking, but there was no assurance my refund would be processed.
This was a complete scam. My flight to London Gatwick was 40 minutes late, and when I called the service, there was no answer after five minutes of ringing. I found their office, which was a 10-minute walk from the terminal, only to be told my booking was canceled because I was late for the pickup. Even though I had provided my flight number, they insisted it was not their issue. They offered to rebook me for three times the original cost if I paid a late fee. I left and took the train instead. This company is taking advantage of customers with no alternatives.
We requested to rent a car on 12 November and paid an advance of £250. However, when we arrived to collect the vehicle, they refused to provide it due to a license issue. While we understand their terms, we have been pursuing a refund since that date. Initially, they did not respond to our emails, and now, despite their replies, we have yet to receive any refund. We are still awaiting the refund and request that it be processed immediately, as we have been following up daily.
Planet rental cars sorted me out for various reasons. I made the mistake of not bringing a physical bank card and should have been charged as a no show. They pointed me in the right direction for travel and also gave me the gesture of goodwill refund for my mistake. Will 100% use these in the future but bring my card next time. Thank you very much
