Where to begin! I've been cooking curries from meal kits for longer than I care to remember, and am always looking for something new to try. So when I spotted Bang's "mild, kid friendly korma" I thought I'd give it a whirl.
Starting by frying a slurry of dried onions and water was odd, but when I was told to make it richer by adding tomatoes I got a bit concerned. Tomatoes? In a korma? But it definitely needed them, as there's only 150ml of liquid in a serving for four people otherwise.
But then came actually eating it. This was a curry, but not in any way a korma. There are no nuts of any kind in the ingredients, for one. And for another I'd just added tomatoes. But the heat! This was one of the spiciest curry kits I'd ever encountered. Mild?! Not in a million years.
I'm sure it's a palatable curry if a spicy, tomato-based dish is what you're after. But it is verging on breaching the trade description act to call this mild, or a korma - it is absolutely neither of those things.

I'm absolutely delighted. I've been cooking Indian food from scratch for over 30 years and I'm pretty good. To actually find a curry kit that gives the authentic experience you get from using fresh ingredients is incredible. Cooked the Bhuna kit today with chicken and tomato and it was delicious. I was sceptical at first looking at the dried aromatics but I needn't have worried. Saved me about 45 minutes of peeling, chopping, caramelising and blending and in the end couldn't tell the difference. Well done Bang! One of the best presents I have ever had and can't wait to try another.
Got a kit of several recipes for Father’s Day. Finally got round to cooking one today - did the Dahl and a Madras, used chicken thighs and added some cauliflower. Super easy to do, took 20 minutes for both, and I let them both sit for a few hours before eating. Absolutely bloody delicious! Flavour was GREAT. Can’t wait to cook the next one.
Love these curries and packs and have previously bought from Amazon. Love the Bhuna and Jalfrezi, really authentic. Would give 5 stars but they need to sort out their systems for orders and dispatch. Reccomend buying the products, they are quick and authentic.
