Payment got rejected by the bank for some reason.
Got a message something like "further review required"

Then........... I got kicked out of the app, and locked out. Card doesn't work anymore also. Then, I said ok, how do I reach support. I searched the official Barclays website. Absolutely nothing to contact them besides their app.

They have a phone number, which they never answer, you have to wait like one hour to talk to anyone and the app.... which I got locked out of...........

The design decision to block the banking app and then make in-app messaging the primary way to contact support is genuinely impressive. Whoever signed off on that has achieved a level of circular logic usually reserved for internal case studies on what not to do.

My app was suddenly blocked with a vague internal error code and zero explanation. No warning, no details, no timeline. Just “call support.” When you try to use digital support, you’re reminded that the very app you need has been disabled.

Security reviews are understandable. Locking customers out of their own money without transparency, context, or a functional digital fallback is not. For a bank that markets itself as modern and digital-first, this experience feels outdated, frustrating, and poorly thought through.

This shouldn’t be how a major bank handles basic access issues in 2026.

Currently in the awful process of trying to locate my charged back money which is missing which is over £2k . The merchant cancelled the payment and returned the money but it hasn't hit my account . Radio silence, cloak and dagger from barclays no updates and left in the dark . Gatekeepers fob me off and quote 6 to 8 weeks to investigate and I should just deal with it. No communication or reassurance just deal with it ! Transparency, and communication and lack of empathy are the biggest failings.

Revert to Barclays bank app and what a surprise as ever, cannot access it even though I have put in the requested information error code 118. Out of all the on-line banking apps Barclays is probably the worst of the lot!! When the appropriate time comes I will most definitely close the account and move my money elsewhere!!!

Terrible service bank when over drawn after barclays whent down few months ago was the banks fault but yet I still have to pay £360 witch has gone to a depth team iv been in store 3 times and asked to pay it iv made 4 or 5 different calls to the depth place witch say they can't find anything so hitting a wall but it's effecting my credit file .use another bank .hallifax no issues
