Review Time
I recommend startups consider other banks for investment. My funds were in transit from an investor when I discovered that my account had been closed without any warning.
Disappointing experience. Not because my credit card application was declined, but because after receiving the denial, Brex immediately revoked my access to the account. This prevented me from unlinking bank accounts that I had connected before submitting the application. This is a completely abusive practice. I was forced to contact my bank directly to disconnect one of my accounts because Brex provided no warning or opportunity to manage my own data. There was no communication saying, “Your application was not approved, but you will lose access to your account.”Completely unacceptable behavior from a company that asks users to share sensitive banking information. I do not recommend Brex at all.I’m attaching a screenshot so others can see how they treat customers once their application is declined.During the application process, everything appeared to function properly. Brex presents itself as a technologically advanced platform, and the submission of the application was smooth and professional. I fully understand that not every application is approved, and I have no issue with the fact that my application was declined. My concern, and the reason for this review, is the treatment that followed the denial. After being informed that I was not approved, I attempted to access my Brex account solely to disconnect the bank accounts I had previously linked for verification purposes. At that point, access to the account was completely blocked, and I was given no option to unlink or remove my banking information. This situation could have been handled appropriately with a simple and clear communication. It would have been sufficient for Brex to inform me that my linked bank accounts had already been disconnected, allowing me to decide whether or not to trust that process. However, no such confirmation was provided. I was left without access, without control, and without any certainty regarding the status of my financial information.I find this practice unacceptable and outside of normal industry standards. Financial institutions have a responsibility to protect customers’ information and to provide clear communication, especially when a relationship is terminated before it formally begins. In this case, there was neither transparency nor adequate consideration for the customer. This review is not about being declined. It is about the lack of basic safeguards and respectful treatment once that decision was made. My only objective was to ensure that my personal and banking data was no longer connected to a platform with which I had no ongoing relationship. After this experience, I reviewed other customer feedback and observed a consistent pattern of negative reviews related to customer treatment and internal procedures. Had I reviewed these beforehand, I would not have applied. In a highly competitive market with many available alternatives, it is surprising that a financial institution would choose to handle customers in this manner. I am sharing this experience to inform other users. My recommendation is to carefully read reviews before applying and to consider other options. Based on my experience, I do not recommend Brex.
They should add the strapline 'the death of employee productivity' or 'making business travel worse'. Causes a massive admin headache, duplicates existing systems, but cannot be used for a variety of payments so you STILL need to use a personal card for some stuff. Plus the thrill of threatened disciplinary action if you accidentally put the wrong expense on the wrong card.
Brex states clearly on its website that it helps startups scale and grow. Well, I applied for a company bank account for my startup and received an email two days later that my application was rejected.I have never been rejected by a bank for opening a business checking account ever, in my life. I was curious to understand why I was rejected and inquired by email. I received a very generic email response that basically said:"Good afternoon,We hope you are doing well! While we appreciate your interest in Brex, not every application that meets our criteria is guaranteed to be approved. At this time, we will not be moving forward or disclosing further details. We understand this was not the final answer you were hoping for and encourage you to explore other banking options that may better suit your needs at this time.- Please note that Brex Support cannot change this outcome regardless of contact by email, phone, or chat."I believe they are engaging in false advertising, and I intend to pursue this matter with the FTC.FYI -- I was able to open my business bank account with good old-fashioned CHASE BANK, online, in 10 minutes. While it took these so-called fintech fools 48 hours to decline my application
they will freeze your accounts and cards without notice or reason. you can accumulate points for using credit cards but if you're late with a payment, they will literally eliminate all of them even though you earned them. customer support barely speaks English.
This has got to be one of the worst fintech platforms in the world. Do not recommend. We've been customers for many years and have processed many tens of millions worth of business through their bank and credit card. Yet the platform continues to get worse over the years. Especially the "Travel" features, which are essentially unusable at this point.
