We engaged Builders Team (via our architects) to provide a comprehensive, turnkey quote for a Velux loft extension with a gable roof in a conservation area.The project also included significant reconfiguration of our first floor, with multiple bathrooms renovated. A new boiler, water pump, and water purifier were installed as part of the works.From the outset, communication was excellent. The quote was detailed and transparent, which helped us clearly define the scope and manage expectations on both sides regarding costs, timelines, and progress updates.Before signing the contract, we met Arturas and Mantis and visited another property they had recently completed. This was incredibly reassuring, giving us confidence in both the quality of their workmanship and the professionalism of Builders Team as a company. Arturas confirmed he would be our project manager, and he remained our main point of contact throughout.CommunicationCommunication throughout the project was consistently strong. Emails and messages were answered promptly, updates were clear, and site meetings were always constructive—especially valuable as this was our first time going through a renovation of this scale.CostWe found the overall cost fair. Materials were specified in the contract, and whenever something unexpected arose or a change was requested, the implications were discussed openly. There were no surprises.Flexibility & ScopeAs with any renovation, some changes to the planned works were made along the way. Each time, we received an updated quote in advance, which made the process transparent and easy to manage.TimingsThe project generally ran to schedule. When we set specific deadlines for moving back into the property, it genuinely felt like Builders Team made every effort to meet them. With Arturas overseeing the work, discussions about progress and timing were always open and ongoing.Quality of WorkThe quality of the finished work is excellent. Absolutely awful. We signed up with Simply Lofts who outsourced the work to A Buiders Team. We started work 2018 and filed against them in small claims court in 2019. To summarise our new bathroom ceiling that collapsed due to them not waterproofing the newly installed loft bathroom, and other leaks that we have recently become aware of. We ended up settling outside of court and as part of this settlement they were tasked to fix the leak and make good on the ceiling. Over the last few years I have complained multiple times about yellow marks on the ceiling in the bathroom, and my concern the ceiling is going to collapse again. They kept telling me it was fine and then a month ago it collapsed again. Homeserve came out to view the situation, source and stop the leak, take photos and put together a report. They found fundamental damage within the walls of the loft bathroom where the shower had been leaking for years and soaking wet joists in the ceiling below due to the slow leak.When I contacted Simply Lofts and A Builders Team to ask them to repair it, they said no, so I got an external builder to do the work and our own cost. We have now raised another claim against the in order to get our money reimbursed.This is just one of the issues we have had, but is the biggest one.Anyone looking for a builder should avoid these builders like the plague, you will end up out of pocket with poor workmanship.
Overall we were very happy with the service provided by Builders Team, who did an extension and internal reconfiguration for us earlier this year. The quality of the work was very good and the team kept to schedule and budget overall. There were a few issues with communication being a bit slow and times when we felt a little bit rushed to make decisions along the way, but overall in the context of a relatively big renovation it was a good experience.
