Just returned from the Wizard of Oz experience, and it wasn't worth the £76.50 we paid for two tickets, even after a 10% discount. We waited in the rain for 20 minutes past our scheduled entry time. Once inside, we faced a long, slow-moving queue through dimly lit rooms filled with Christmas decorations, obscuring the art and furniture we wanted to see. It took less than 40 minutes to get through, making it feel like a waste of money. Even the children were unimpressed. The food outside was overpriced and disappointing. Having visited many stately homes, I've never felt as let down as I do now. Also, be aware that the ticket does not include parking, which costs an additional £7—necessary since you can't reach the location without a car. I recommend skipping this experience.
Just returned from the Wizard of Oz "experience" and it cost us £76.50 for two tickets, even with a 10% discount. We had to wait in the rain for 20 minutes after our scheduled entry time. Inside, we were met with a long, slow-moving queue through poorly lit rooms filled with Christmas decorations, making it hard to see any of the paintings, furniture, or statues we were excited about. It took less than 40 minutes to get through, which felt like a waste of money. Even the kids seemed unimpressed. The food outside was overpriced and not very appealing. We've visited many stately homes and have never felt this disappointed. Also, keep in mind that the ticket for the house and garden does not cover parking, which costs an additional £7—needed since a car is required to reach the site. My advice is to skip this experience.
My daughter purchased tickets for herself and her sister to the Wizard of Oz experience, but it fell short compared to last year's Alice in Wonderland theme. The prices at the shop are quite high, and I believe reducing them could attract more visitors, particularly for those on a budget. It’s disappointing to still see last year’s Christmas decorations for sale. The café also charges too much for what it offers. My youngest daughter has expressed that she doesn’t want to be invited next year. After estimating daily earnings, we understand the costs involved, but it feels like we’re being taken advantage of.
The Wizard of Oz experience was enjoyable. We had a good day, but the food hall was different from previous visits. Food was served in cardboard boxes, and the pigs in blankets were missing their bacon. I had to ask for gravy, which was tasteless. The quality and service were much better before when food was served on plates. As a member, I won’t be purchasing food on our next visit.
I had a wonderful time at the venue this year during my annual festive visit. This location holds a special place in my heart, nestled in beautiful countryside near the city. The afternoon tea was a significant improvement from my last visit, featuring more sandwiches (with refills available), along with scones and cakes. The tea was good, and refills were offered, which we appreciated. We were seated by the charming fireplace, which added to the ambiance! The staff were incredibly attentive, and it was no trouble to request a tea refill. The festive decorations were outstanding, creating a lovely atmosphere, and the Wizard of Oz theme was fantastic! I highly recommend a visit.
I appreciated all the effort put into making this a pleasant visit, and the Wizard of Oz theme was beautifully displayed. We also enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea again. Thank you to the staff for their hard work. Looking forward to next year!
We visited on Saturday for the Wizard of Oz Christmas event, and it was nowhere near as good as our last visit for Narnia. We had to wait over an hour before entering, which was difficult for me due to my condition. Once inside, we felt rushed because of the crowd. The entry fee was excessive for what we received. The walled garden was closed for maintenance, which was disappointing and made for an expensive visit. Traveling from a distance, we won’t be returning next year.
I really liked the farm shop, but I'm disheartened that yet another venue has gone cashless. I prefer not to support businesses that limit financial choices. We have elderly friends who always use cash and can no longer enjoy a visit for a walk and a leisurely lunch at the café. It’s a real shame.
I paid around £200 for a joint annual membership after moving to the area, and it was a mistake. The setup is chaotic, and the customer service is appalling. Previously, I was a member at another venue where I received a comprehensive membership pack and excellent service. Here, I received nothing after joining, and reasonable inquiries are met with rude responses. I recommend avoiding this place.
