Overall, i would say that Ubigi is great... once I got it working.
My only issue was that it took me a day to get working, which is frustrating when you are in a foreign country alone. Apparently, the issue was, when going through the automatic setup, it did set my phone to roaming when adding the eSIM, and I had to do that manually, and it took forever for me to find the right trouble shooting page and find that out. Once I did, though, it was great. Live and learn... It would be perfect if there was a note about that on the initial setup...
I bought a eSIM for my toddlers iPad that she can’t live without. Let me tell you thee service is great and the plans vary so that there are affordable plans for everyone 🙂 I even buy a eSIM when my data is gone and the service is so much better.
Everything and its nearly impossible to get in touch with a human. I did manage after 3 days, then no eSim for the first days of my trip, which made it quite difficult. I purshased 2 eSim just to try, both the same error. It doesnt download on the iphone automatically, I had to install with the QR code which I got 3 days after my purshase.
A very affordable, easy to register/ set-up and very seemless data connection. Definitely a satisfied user here and will recommend Ubigi to my traveler family and friends.
Needed an eSIM for an iPad Mini 7 with cellular, did some research, and chose Ubigi. Great price, installed with zero problems, and 5Gb per month (regional- USA), and fast! 12 months for $49 (total). I was astounded by the low cost, hope that it stays this low at renewal time.
My friends & I went to Japan again. I decided to try out Ubigi eSim this time while my friends went with with using a pocket WiFi again. So I could give you a few comparisons between the two on our trip. First off, I was able to activate and use my connection once we landed. My friends had to pick up their pocket WiFi at the airport in order to get connection. Throughout the trip, I had more space in my bag while my friends had to carry their pocket WiFi around. I also noticed that my friends had the inconvenience to charge their pocket WiFi once in a while whenever we are on the go. I didn't have to worry about that.
I was speculative about using an eSim because Reddit users talked about losing connection in certain areas. I didn't have that trouble. I did notice some areas where I had LTE but my connection was still strong. I was able to call, text, and use the internet all around. I did notice my battery dies faster but I'm not sure if it was because of the eSIM or because I used my phone a lot.
Overall, I highly recommend Ubigi's eSim. I'm sure my friends will transfer over to an eSim the next time we travel to Japan.
Save your money and do not invest in this eSIM. Luckily, I only spent four dollars for a 24-hour plan, but it turned out to be completely useless. The process seemed straightforward with the “four simple steps,” yet the platform gets stuck on the “waiting for connectivity” phase. The eSIM never activates.
I've always relied on this service and it has performed well in the past. However, this time I encountered issues activating my plan and using the eSIM after switching phones. I was unaware that I needed to remove the eSIM from my previous device, and now I'm unable to access the plan I purchased. Their website mentioned that customer support could assist with phone changes. For the past three days, I've emailed customer service three times, only to receive automated responses that did not address my problem. I also tried their live chat, but I was only connected to AI agents and was not forwarded to a representative for assistance. I submitted a SIM swap request, which was logged as a ticket yesterday, and I was informed that someone would address it shortly. However, 21 hours later, I still have not received any response from customer support. It's strange to have this experience and unprofessional to see a representative actively responding to negative feedback on public forums while ignoring customer inquiries submitted through their official channels.
Installation was straightforward, and the signal quality was impressive at 9/10. However, the labeling of the package as unlimited can be somewhat misleading; it would be better if it indicated "unlimited with fair use" or something along those lines.
