Review Time
I’ve got a 48 page hardback 10 x 10 album sitting in chatbook’s checkout that will not send. I’ve never had this trouble in the past 6 years or so that I’ve used Chatbooks. My mini monthly albums have managed to send. Their chatbot has been no help & I was meant to be hearing from a “human” but that hasn’t happened. I’m so frustrated & won’t be using this platform anymore once my mini album subscription has expired.
Creating a google album of my 60 pics, loading it into a chatbook is so frustrating. Half the time it can't find the album, the other half just won't load it period. Sometimes if I come back the next day it will load. This has happened for almost every book. I have contacted customer service many times. Nothing is fixed.
I have the same issues as a few other folks on here. I ordered three books on June 3rd. The first was an 8x8. 60 pages. They charged me $51.00!!! The other two were around $12.00 and $11.00. They were to be sent to two different addresses. Looks like they are now both supposed to come to me. Receive by date was June 19. Today is the 20. I contacted chat and was told I would receive an email. Email simply said to tell them the problem. I’ve requested a call back which I don’t I will receive. I will wait a bit but fully intend to cancel subscription. Not a good first order experience.
I created a Chat book for my dad for Father’s Day. They said it would be there beforehand Otherwise I would not have made it. Now I go back in and it says won’t be there until the 19th. I created it on June 2. There’re such liars if you don’t care when it will ever arrive then I guess it’s OK but that’s the whole purpose is to create a Father’s Day book for Father’s Day to get there before hand not after the fact.
Great idea but terrible service and removing functions from paying customers. The 5x5 mini subscription was a great idea when I first signed up - the ability to make a small, un-daunting photo book once a month with some memories in it. That was it. Now they've removed the ability to change the pre-determined title on each photo book - unless of course you 'upgrade' and pay more - for no apparent reason (well presumably greed?!). When I first started this was great, I could make a small photo book and 'catch up' on some memories from the blur of early parenthood. Suddenly it now won't let me change the title on the books - so they now say 'DEC 2024' or 'JAN 2025' on the cover, and no option to change or just erase - apparently Chatbooks has decided your monthly books have to be one per month and you don't get to decide that anymore. Unless you pay them more of course, despite previously allowing this with no problem.Fine if that's what you want but it isn't what I signed up for - and the cheek of telling me to pay more for something that was originally part of what I subscribed for! For the 'privilege' of naming my own gosh-darn pictures? Of changing a month and year on the cover of my own photos like I was allowed to when I started giving them my money for this product? Of daring to have memories that don't fall easily into just X amount per month - no months where you do or want to print more, no months where nothing happens but you'd love to print something else... Super weird and not great. Weird deterioration in what seemed like a good service when I first started with them.
The books have turned out well. They are durable in the hands of my grandchildren. They delight in viewing them each time they visit. BEWARE! Many processes and prcedures were "changed" Throughout my paid subscription. My hopes for a consistency based on first several books became impossible. A current paid subscription should not be changed mid stream. Simple contractual policy. I just sent my last mini monthly to print and I am deleting my account. Most responses about said changes was "sorry". If I could title or date my first few books... I should have been able to finish my whole subscription in such a manner. Beware. Otherwise, if you do not mind constant uncommunicated change... the books will reflect the time you put into them and the quality of your original photos.I am looking elsewhere.
The books were ok, not the best quality but not the worst I’ve seen. The issues I had mostly were with the subscription. I was charged for things I didn’t approve of. They charged me for books that were showing I had credits for them. When contacted customer service there was nothing they could do. I will be deleting this app, and I will never use this service again. Update in response to Chatbook reply: I appreciate your response, but that was the point. I was charged without even knowing that I didn’t have a credit. It said I had a certain amount of chatbook credits, so I went in to create my last ones I had already paid for before canceling my subscription. It was not indicated that the book I created was going to be charged. It was showing as a credit I had to use. Also, after I canceled my subscription it tried to charge me again for another book. I didn’t even have one created (as I used my last credits already), but it said it was going to be sent to print and to make any edits I needed to. If I wouldn’t have contacted customer service I would have been charged again. The app makes it unclear as to the charges that will incur, and when they do happen without the user knowing there is no refund offered. I did not want a credit on my account because staying on this app opens me up to unwarranted charges. Instead of a credit, a refund should have been given due to the fact it was showing I had a credit. Users beware that you may be opening yourself up to unwarranted charges which will not be reversed.
I decided to use Chatbooks and sign up for an annual subscription and built my book on Feb. 4th. On the 6th I got an email stating it was done, shipped and should receive by the 14th. (This is per standard delivery) I checked a couple days later and it now said the 19th. I went to the website and chatted on the 12th for an update. NOW, I was being told it should be there be here by the 25th! Today, I went on again to ask for a tracking number. Per Standard Shipping, they do NOT give you a tracking number. AND, I am now told that if I don't get it by March 5th (one day shy of a full month from the date it shipped) to please follow up. I have ordered many items over the years via Stan Shipping and always gotten a shipping number and NEVER had to wait a month. If you look at their website under Stan Shipping, it states up to 5 days to print the book and up to 5, yes 5, days in transit. Well, then when it shipped the 6th, I should get it (not including Sunday) yesterday, the 12th. I guess you get what you pay for, but I will never use them again. The worse shipping policy I have ever encountered. BUT, if the price is good and you can wait a month.......then yes, choose Chat.
I have been making individual 6x6 hardcover photo books with chatbooks now for 10 years. What can I say about their products and service? The books are printed on lovely heavy stock and it takes the ink well. I love the sturdy little hardcovers. It's easy to reprint old projects.. It's never been easier to make a project that multiple family members can enjoy... Best of all Chatbooks stand behind their books. If a new book comes damaged they replace it lickety split. Remember to photograph any damaged packaging prior to opening, just so problems are documented. Recently I used their new live chat for customer service. I was amazed at how fast and responsive it was. I had a problem and they got back to me and sorted it out in 5 minutes tops. They took the time to make sure it was properly sorted out and I definitely was not chatting with an AI bot. They have support available during Monday-Friday. The customer service I received was exceptional. Recently I finished up a bunch of books that were waiting in my drafts... I was a little worried that they might arrive dinged just because that was my experience in the past. Their packaging has improved 100%. They now ship their photo books in a specially designed mini corrugated book sleeve. My books arrived in perfect condition. They are more expensive than Walmart but the quality of the paper and materials used is far superior... I've never subscribed to their monthly books. I've only ever made my own baby books and travel books.. I love the minis just because they are so forgiving to cellphone snaps... They also are easy to store in decorative boxes too. In 10 years I've made 26 books. I love having little minis that highlight a year's special times. It's easy too to get things chronological and nicely dated if you are pulling images from your Google cloud. Highly recommended.
