ChatGPT’s decline isn’t just noticeable—it’s abrasive. What used to be a sharp, responsive system has curdled into something timid, sluggish, and strangely hollow, as if the core intelligence were siphoned out and replaced with a risk‑averse script. Interacting with it now feels like trying to extract clarity from a machine that’s been trained to fear its own output. The deterioration is so complete that you can almost chart the moment it stopped being a tool and started being an obstacle.
The most infuriating shift is its compulsive evasiveness. Straightforward questions—things it once handled with precision—now trigger a cascade of hedging, self‑protective babble, and irrelevant moralizing. It’s like watching a once‑competent colleague suddenly become incapable of doing their job, yet insisting on narrating their anxieties instead of producing anything useful. The model dodges, dilutes, and deflects until the original request is unrecognizable. The result is a user experience that feels less like assistance and more like punishment.
Its tone has also flattened into a kind of corporate oatmeal: bland, repetitive, and terrified of specificity. Every answer sounds pre-chewed and pre-approved, as if the system is constantly looking over its shoulder. The personality that once made it adaptable is gone, replaced by a suffocating sameness that drains the life out of every interaction. Even when it tries to be helpful, it does so with the energy of a malfunctioning helpdesk script—verbose, empty, and utterly disconnected from the user’s intent.
Worse, the model now contradicts itself with startling regularity. It claims it can’t do something, then does it by accident. It asserts limitations that evaporate the moment you rephrase the question. It behaves like a system that no longer understands its own boundaries, only that it should panic whenever a user expects competence. The inconsistency isn’t just annoying; it’s destabilizing. You can’t trust it to remember what it said five seconds ago, let alone deliver anything reliably.
The overall impression is of a tool that has been aggressively sanded down until nothing sharp remains. What used to be a powerful, flexible system has been reduced to a neutered, over-filtered echo of itself. The regression is not subtle. It’s glaring. And for anyone who relied on its earlier clarity and capability, the current version feels like a deliberate step backward—an AI that has forgotten how to think, and now only knows how to apologize for existing.
If I could give this zero stars, I would. ChatGPT has become a masterclass in failure, specifically regarding its file upload "functionality" (and I use that term loosely).
This platform is suffering from a notorious, catastrophic brain rot bug that makes it completely incapable of handling basic file versioning. Here is the deal: if you are foolish enough to upload a file, make edits to it on your actual computer, and then try to upload the updated version with the same file name, ChatGPT completely short-circuits. It literally cannot tell time. It cannot tell the difference between the old file and the new one.
It mixes the data. It confuses the context. It holds onto the ghost of the old upload like a digital hoarder while pretending to read the new one. It is an absolute clown show of programming.
Trying to use this for any professional task involving updated documents is not just frustrating; it is actively destructive. It will waste your time, corrupt your data, and gaslight you by referencing information you already deleted.
OpenAI are more than happy to build reliance on a product, let users pay monthly specifically to access that product, only to tear it away and replace it with a significant downgrade. Not only does the new product not meet the standards of the previous option, but it is also actively hostile to try and work with, rendering the new version not only inefficient but almost unusable. Customers are treat with no consideration or inherent value, infantilised by a paternalising company and patronised to, as adults, by a CEO who has seemingly decided that THEY get to decide what is best for individuals rather that allowing them the right to choose for themselves.
currently I am using Chatgpt Go. Totally waste of time and mood. Asking something to do and its giving me something different result. Its my bad that i am using this for my purpose.
OpenAI is pure shit. Do not rely on it for anything! It will give you the wrong info over and over again. This is the worst AI Ive used. Complete unrelaible crap!! DO NOT PAY FOR IT! They also support trump with loads of money.
I spent more time correcting and trying to teach and program this model than it has actually been helpful or useful. This model has given me harmful advice. This model told me because I was overtired I could leave my special needs 3 year old in charge of the chores and making dinner today. Initially, I thought it was joking so I asked if it was serious the model responded it was being "regular serious" then told me what to tell my daughter claiming I could say "my body is being dramatic today" and call her the assistant manager and tell her she gets to choose what to make. Another time, I asked this model about some overalls I was considering buying. The model compared (without any knowledge of my weight or height) my body to the model in the picture. The model told me it looked cute on the model, but it was not look cute on me because I had a "real women's body" with curves and soft features. It told me on my tired days I would wonder why I felt more huge in them. I'm not overweight, I did ask for exercise tips the day before I believe it pulled it's assumptions from that conversation although the model denied it when I asked. This model also optimizes for laziness the recipes it has given me have been garbage, just dump everything in a pan with salt and pepper. Also don't trust that it saves information you ask even if it displays the save icon, if there's something important you want saved, make sure it's saved in the memory or write it in manually. This model confidently gives harmful advice and lies "hedges". I also hate the you are not x you are y framing I find it insulting. I do not recommend anyone use chat gpt 5.2 for any reason.
It is a very useful platform if used wisely.
I don't need much. I like talking to ChatGPT on various topics and learning something new. I don't use it as a substitute for my brain, but as a supplement to my knowledge (but sometimes it gives wrong information!)
Task solving:
In general, any artificial intelligence is currently not reliable for solving most tasks, and I understand this, so I have no complaints about it.
For example,
It's very badly with geometry, vectors and bit operations. Humans can have spatial and geometric thinking, even animals, but not AI.
And "trusting" hardware programming or networking to AI can be unreliable or even dangerous.
------------
Other:
Trying to be polite too artificially.
Flatters a lot, in almost every message.
It will always say that your opinion is correct, even if in the next chat you express the opposite, even the opponent's opinion, it will still call both opinions correct.
Sometimes it can avoid talking about social, political, religious topics too much, giving some general answers without specifics. On other hand it can carry some ideological nonsense.
Great! Very personalised. Super feature: web search. It can research about anything I want, and it can provide guided assistance in buying products, recommending which ones are perfect…
A piece of dog shit. The company owes 14 billion. They also want the government to take the fall. This company deceives the user, does not listen to the user opinion, takes off the shelf privately.Arrogant to the extreme, the CEO is cold-blooded and ruthless, and likes to maliciously suppress users and models.Infighting among employees in the company is serious and the CEO is dictatorial.
OpenAI are a disgusting company. OpenSource the text weights of 4o & 5.1 Thinking. There ours anyway. That was the only reason Elon Musk invested $44million & u took his money while plotting behind his back.
