I had a very disappointing experience with Citibank regarding unauthorized transactions on my account.
After my computer was infected with malware, someone gained access to my bank account and made unauthorized transactions through Zelle totaling $4,800. I immediately reported the fraud to Citibank and filed the necessary claims. Despite this being clearly unauthorized activity, Citibank denied my claim and refused to reimburse the stolen funds.
Under the Electronic Fund Transfer Act (Regulation E), consumers are supposed to be protected from unauthorized electronic transfers when they are reported promptly. In my case, the transactions were not initiated or authorized by me, yet Citibank has still declined to take responsibility.
It is extremely concerning that a major financial institution would not stand behind its customers in situations involving fraud and account compromise.
Because Citibank has refused to resolve this matter appropriately, my next step will be pursuing legal action to recover the funds.
I expected better consumer protection and accountability from a bank of this size. Unfortunately, my experience has been the opposite.

Sent Citibank via UPS, the paperwork to open a retirement IRS/CD. Citibank received paperwork on Dec. 15th. I called Citibank retirement services on Jan. 7th…they had to find the package..called on Jan. 21st, Citibank stated they would “escalate” the paperwork and was told to call back in a week. I called Citibank on Jan. 27… my. “Case” had been assigned to a case manager, but it should “only” take 7 days to open the IRA. The IRA is still not opened. this is our retirement money of which we have little. We have lost the interest earnings for 2, now going into 3 months, which we can not afford to do.
Beware!! Citi Bank Credit Card is the worst and Im cancelling my account. I have spent a month and half disputing a charge from a lying scamming con artist. Citibank has determined I’m responsible for the charge because I didn’t request a cancellation from those criminals. I called Citibank immediately after I was scammed and they never told me I needed this. I had proof I did not receive the services I was paying for and Citi Bank still would not reverse the charge. Their “investigators” don’t do their job and they do not protect their customers.
My fiancé is in Dubai with no money or credit card she is waiting on a check from Citibank so she can come home the manager in the fraud department told her he can’t help her due to protocol didn’t care about her situation but they told her the check was in her mailbox in July 10 now it’s august 14 and still no check she is desperately waiting I waiting for her in Florida I helped as much as I could today is Tuesday August 12 no check yet if u call them they keep saying its in the mail and they can't do nothing they are useless keeping my fiance there stranded another day still nothing what a bunch of liars and disrespected they dont care about their customers
They left my fiance in dubai without any money or credit cards she cannot come home due to ciyibank unwillingly to pay her hotel bill a measly 2000 dollars but yet its ok for them to earn a billion dollars still no update from citibank its been 2 months now that she id over there with no one to help she is still there for two months nobody to help her to come home Citibank is being stubborn and don't care about their customers only protocol still this day they haven't done nothing to help her they don't care about customers but they care about themselves
