0 stars if I could. I originally wanted to rent a car for the weekend, but then last minute my plans changed and I told them I could only do 1 day. Up until this moment, no contract was signed, and no payment was made. I was told that since I had told them 3 days, I would have to pay for the 3 days upfront and then they could rearrange to accommodate for 1 day. Most BS thing I ever had someone tell me. So I ignored, and everyday they followed up with threats regarding debt collectors. They told me I had a "legally binding" contract in place regarding their Terms and Conditions which apparently stated that I had to pay, which in their eyes means if you open an inquiry with them, you automatically accept them. Continued to ignore, and the threats kept coming. They were even like "oh even though you live in USA we will still come after you don't worry". They did send a letter to my house in the US, which the address was written so incorrectly I don't even know how it got delivered to the right place. Anyways, apparently debt collectors are out for me. Still shitting my pants over it as well. Stay away from this company at all costs. I honestly suspect all of the good/decent reviews on this page are all set up by the owner. Not a huge team behind this.
I bought a voucher for a one-hour sports car drive (Lamborghini) as a birthday present. The communication with Drivar was fast and responsive ONLY until I made the payment. After that, everything changed – I did not receive the service I paid for: no Lamborghini ride, no alternative car, and no reimbursement.Despite repeated attempts to contact them, I was left without any solution. This is unacceptable business practice, and I strongly advise others to be cautious when booking with Drivar.
I made a booking for a G63 AMG. I paid 1.300 USD upfront as deposit. On the very day I was supposed to pick up the car at 12:00, I got a message at 9:50 that the car was for some reason not delivered back from the previous rental period. A bit strange as I would assume they would know that before in order to make car ready. So there I was without any possibility to drive as planned. They offered another one the next day and we spoke about the options. As I had to book another ride somewhere else I asked them to cancel the reservation and give me back my deposit. They refused. They did offer a lower price etc but it still messed up my plans. They then directed me to speak with the car owner of the new car. Unfortunately for them this person just copied the text that Drivar instructed him to text me, and forgot to edit it, so I could read that they wanted to put pressure on me. So they use tactics in order to put pressure on customers to accept their offer, but it legitimately did not suit my plans. So sorry then to read from others on trust pilot that they often suddenly don’t have the car that they have booked for a customer. So I lost 1.300 USD on absolutely nothing. Would not recommend to put a deposit there before you’re sure that they will not breach their side of the contract.
I booked a BMW M2 with DRIVAR for October 2–3, 2025, and paid €321.17 as a deposit.A few days before the rental, the company informed me that the car was unavailable due to an accident.They offered a “replacement” vehicle (a BMW M4) at a higher price and from another city — not a comparable solution.On the day of the booking, no vehicle was provided.Despite multiple written requests, my deposit was not refunded.Instead, DRIVAR proposed a “credit” for future use or a voucher, which is meaningless since I do not live in Germany and have no plans to return.After this experience, I have lost trust in the company’s honesty and reliability.It feels like a misleading business practice, where payment is taken but service is not delivered.I have reported the case to the German consumer arbitration body (Universalschlichtungsstelle des Bundes).I strongly advise others: avoid prepaying any deposit to DRIVAR or ensure you receive written confirmation that a car is secured and ready before paying anything.
I rented out my Tesla through DRIVAR, and what I experienced feels like nothing short of a scam.The customer purchased what was advertised as “premium insurance” at a cost of €499 for 26 days — nearly 5x the normal rate. The papers clearly said premium rate insurance, so naturally we both assumed this meant proper coverage. While returning the car, the customer reported that a pebble had cracked the windshield, but reassured me it was covered under the premium insurance.When I contacted DRIVAR, their COO, Tim Hieber (tim at the rate drivar.de), replied that DRIVAR does not actually provide insurance at all — only a “liability reduction” — and that I should recover costs directly from the customer’s deposit. This is completely misleading and dishonest.Charging customers hundreds of euros for something called “premium insurance” and then admitting it isn’t insurance is a scam. It’s unprofessional, deceptive, and shows they are only interested in milking money from customers and car owners alike. Avoid this company.
AVOID....PLEASE...THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM AND FRAUDULENTFor those who don't want to read my full experience, please read my summary below so you can avoid getting ripped off and cheated by this sham of a company. This particularly applies to anyone outside of Germany. I really hope the German authorities are investigating this company because it is going to make travelers question booking any more experiences like this in the future in Germany. Essentially, they promise you a booking, take your money, then when you go to get your experience, tell you the car you want is not available and offer you something else instead without any refund or compensation. Then employ delay tactics in the hope that your travel plans will prevent you from actually using your experience. The "Autobahn experience" is a complete scam. The " instructor" purposely picks a time and place so you just drive at normal speeds stuck in traffic and then brings you back without ever experiencing any high speeds. They promise you video options that you pay for, do not offer it and will not refund you the money. PLESE...PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THESE FRAUDS. I am looking into my legal options to see if these frauds can be shut down by the authorities. This is very bad for both Germany as a country and car enthusiasts. I will be writing up my full experience as a follow up. There go by names like Drivar as well as Motion Drive. They may also be using other fraudulent names....but PLEASE STAY AWAY. If I can help even one person not lose their money like I did, I would consider my hassle worth it. Be on the lookout for two names when you communicate - Lara and Tim Heiber . There maybe other people involved too but, these were the ones who scammed me. My full experience will be on Google reviews. I organised a hire at very late notice , less than 24 Hrs notice . Philippe responded quickly and the details were worked out fast. I’m an Aussie , so I was a little sceptical because of some of the reviews, however everything went smoothly and as organised . My friend and I had an amazing day and It was all very professional and as described. This is not a spam post by the company as some state they do , it is ligit and I had a great day.Thanks for the experience Stu
