As a newcomer to domain buying, I took a chance on a domain from an auction, believing it was a good deal. The domain I bought is "ia.com," but I later found out it's actually "xn--80a9e.com," which is not what I intended to buy. I would like a refund so I can invest in a valid domain for reselling. I reached out to the support team to establish a reseller account and link a .co.uk domain that I previously owned. During the live chat, I was instructed by the support representative to change the IPS tag to GLOBALDOMAIN to facilitate the domain transfer, which I complied with. However, it was not clearly communicated that for .UK domains, this tag change is immediate, which removes the domain from the current registrar instantly, and—most importantly—could lead to the domain being placed in the service's internal holding account if the reseller storefront isn't fully set up. After following the support's directions, my domain appeared with the service on WHOIS, but I couldn't see it in my account, nor could I manage it. When I brought this up, support informed me that they couldn't help and described the situation as “non-negotiable,” suggesting I try a different account type instead. There was never any dispute about ownership, yet access to my own domain was effectively blocked due to internal policies and vague guidance. The support team later claimed they were “not withholding” the domain, but still refused to link it to my account. This experience was highly stressful and could have been prevented with a proper explanation of the risks associated with a .UK IPS tag change for reseller accounts. I would strongly advise anyone looking to transfer .co.uk domains—especially resellers—to obtain clear, written clarification before making any changes at the registry level.
