Review Time
I joined FMP last December 2024.
I paid £169.99 for an annual payment. I soon realised that my account had a hidden auto-renewal condition. I immediately contacted FMP to ask that my membership account should not be auto renewed. I asked for confirmation and FMP supplied a confirmation –
“Your subscription will end on 21 November 2025. You have full access to your account for another 337 days.”.
On conclusion of my year’s membership I foundhacelledve also canalso at a new subscription had been taken out by the company!!!
I complained and their reply was as follows –
“The good news is that you are within the 14 day cooling off period ad eligible for a refund of the most recent renewal payment.
I confirm the renewal amount is refunded. Etc
I have also cancelled your subscription and the automatic renewal option on your behalf. etc.”
There is no apology and the form of the reply is that if I hadn’t noted this within a cooling off period then I would be a member for the next 12 months.
So beware, this is a company pulling all the stops to retain your membership.
I believe that they are incompetent and dishonest. So beware of dealing with this company.
I've discovered a lot about my family tree so far. I didn't give a full 5 stars because I would like more guidance on finding additional connections and filtering out incorrect information. At times, I feel a bit disoriented.
I haven't used the service for long, but I'm impressed with the range of resources available. However, I find it frustrating that when I link a document to someone in my tree, it alters the previously confirmed data. Accepting a document's connection should not imply acceptance of all its information, as it reflects the validity maintained by the recorder. I shouldn't have to label documentary evidence as 'alternate.'
The format is very user-friendly and packed with information. Searching is much easier compared to other major research platforms. Most importantly, once I purchased a full access account, it remained that way, unlike others that keep adding extra paid features.
The design should reflect what actual users want, not just what the creators think is great. I'm not 'web illiterate,' but I gave up on the 'new' workspace link after just 30 seconds. I can screenshot and save without needing to learn something new.
