I have been trying for weeks to recover my deposit, but my emails are ignored. Extremely unprofessio

I have been trying for weeks to recover my deposit, but my emails are ignored. Extremely unprofessional

I was relocated last minute to an apartment 40 minutes away. When I finally moved into the original apartment, it was dirty, paint was still wet, and toxic cleaning odors made it barely usable. Some of my clothes were damaged.

The Wi-Fi didn’t work for two days, and communication was almost impossible.

Scam!

Scam!I booked through Holidu one of their properties in Madrid. Foryourentals never emailed me the address , I contacted them via email and whatsapp and never got an answer. I had to book another hotel last minute. I asked Holidu for a refund which after two weeks still has not happened. I don't know who took my money, I paid Holidu, don't know if they paid Foryourentals, but neither has contacted me.

The worst rental company - Be Warned!

Paola has been beyond unhelpful. The ladies at the checking were unwelcoming and showed up at thew wrong time. The appartment didn't have any fast and secure wifi (the support told me to use the neighbors' weak wifi) and there was no washing machine as advertised in the listing. The lack of support was shocking. I will let the Spanish rental authorities know about this lack of professionalism as well as warn any future prospect looking for information online.

They Fraudulently retains all or part of deposit(see UPDATE)

A booking was made for a Madrid apartment via Blueground (an intermediate broker who was excellent!), with a €1,000 deposit managed by ForYouRentals. Upon arrival on June 1-2, 2025, pre-existing plumbing issues were reported and repaired by ForYouRentals. After checkout on June 30, the refund process was delayed for months due to ForYouRentals' poor communication and failure to provide proof of payment. A partial refund of €878.45 was issued on September 3, 2025, after ForYouRentals deducted €90.75 for the pre-existing repair and cited currency conversion from USD. All requests for an itemized bill were ignored. Formal demands citing Spanish tenancy law [(Article 36, LAU), stating the burden of proof for damages lies with the landlord, who must prove they were caused by the tenant and were not pre-existing)] were sent on October 26, 2025, and consumer complaints were filed with Madrid arbitration (Nov 6), the Madrid consumer office (Nov 28), and Econsumer.gov (Dec 5), International Consumer Protection and Enforcement Network (ICPEN) Dec. 5. The dispute over the withheld €121.55 remains unresolved, the company has refused to answer.UPDATE(12/9/25): Four days after my review(12/5/25), the company gave a weak and irrelevant response—after ignoring my requests for over three months and only after I posted on Trustpilot. There was no response to a formal demand letter which was sent last month and yet, they still provide no proof of damage, and nevertheless deducted money. This reply is the most (albeit inaccurate) information I’ve received in five months. I address their points:They claim the plumbing issue was “completely unknown prior to your arrival” and resolved “immediately at no cost.” FALSE. They deducted €90 after I left. It was "immediately resolved" only because I reported it within 12-14 hours of arrival. After five months, they’ve provided no documentation proving the drain was clogged by my use (because it wasn't).They reference a “technical report — which you received.” I NEVER received any technician report during my stay and have still never seen one.Their admission that they didn’t know of the problem proves they don’t inspect between tenants. If a tenant reports an issue, they will charge the tenant for it. The failure to inspect before and after a tenant uses the property demonstrates they can "at will" assign blame for a repair to whomever they wish, and they chose me. They claim the deduction “was not an ‘arbitrary deduction.’” I called it arbitrary because they arbitrarily assigned blame for pre-existing damage I did not cause. They claim “All supporting documents were provided upon request.” I have over 100 emails(4,000 pages); they NEVER provided a single supporting document. Clearly, the author of the reply never read the email history. They state Spanish tenancy law (Art. 36 LAU) “does not apply to seasonal contracts...” and that “the burden of proof was met through the official technical repair report.” Yet they have provided NO report. I was charged months after my tenancy for a repair reported on day one. Where is the report? After five months, nothing. They say, “the factual record and technical reports fully support our actions.” This is laughable. Over 100 emails of delays and refusal to provide documents is written proof they have no reports—only a "declaration" that I was at fault.Their claim of “timely responses” is false. Responses were rare and often required an intermediary company (Blueground) to press for a reply. Moreover, no official agency ever advised me of a reply from them. The system favors foryourentals: a visitor leaves, gets charged months later, and has no recourse without Spanish residency. I have taken filed claims with stateside agencies. Look at other reviews of this company outside of trustpilot. My situation is not unique. They are haggling over €90. If hundreds of tenants report issues in faulty apartments as soon as they arrive but are not notified that it will cost them to repair it, but will be billed later with no recourse to the the money back, ForYouRentals can make thousands per month. Do the math, it's quite lucrative.I REPEAT: I arrived to a clogged, damaged drain and loose faucet fixture. It was pre-existing but if not repaired could damage the apartment with flooding to the bedroom (the apartment was not level and I had to mop the excess water). What choice was there but to ask for a preexisting problem to be fixed? They provided zero proof I caused it. This shows how they operate: withhold money unilaterally, then justify it with false claims. I wouldn't trust them to supervise a warm glass of water, let alone administer an apartment rental. Stay away—they will blame you for damages and keep your money. Bottom Line
