Review Time
I didn’t write this review lightly. In fact, I’ve waited quite some time before putting my thoughts into words because I wanted to reflect carefully and make sure I was being fair rather than emotional. Unfortunately, after giving myself that space, my feelings remain the same — my experience with the Academy of Professional Celebrants was deeply disappointing.
When I first came across the academy, I felt genuinely excited. The messaging, tone, and presentation created the impression of a professional, well-established training provider that truly prepares its students for real-world celebrant work. It seemed like an investment in a meaningful future career — something structured, supportive, and comprehensive. I enrolled with optimism and trust.
Very quickly, however, I began to feel that the reality did not align with the expectations that had been set.
The course materials themselves felt overly simplistic and, at times, dated. While introductory information is important, I had expected a much deeper level of insight — practical scenarios, current industry standards, client management guidance, real ceremony structuring techniques, and hands-on feedback. Instead, much of the content felt surface-level, lacking the professional depth needed to build genuine confidence in working with paying clients.
There were moments where I found myself thinking, “Is this really all there is?” I frequently had to search outside resources to gain the clarity and practical understanding that I assumed would be central to the course. That, in itself, was disheartening — especially after committing financially to structured training.
Support and communication were another major area of concern for me. One of the key reasons people choose formal training is the expectation of guidance and mentorship. I hoped for constructive feedback, timely responses, and a sense that someone was invested in my progress. Instead, I often felt isolated in the process. Communication did not feel as responsive or encouraging as I had anticipated, and at times it lacked the professionalism I associate with a serious training institution.
When you’re building confidence in a new career path, reassurance and clear guidance matter enormously. Without that, self-doubt grows. Rather than feeling empowered and supported, I often felt uncertain and frustrated.
The emotional impact of this experience is something I can’t ignore. Beyond the financial cost, there was also the cost of time, energy, and mental strain. I rearranged personal commitments, dedicated hours to study, and placed trust in the process — only to feel that the return on that investment was not what had been implied.
I also believe transparency matters. It’s important for prospective students to understand that marketing language and lived experience can sometimes feel very different. That doesn’t mean everyone will share my perspective — but it does mean people should do careful, independent research before committing.
If you are considering enrolling, I would strongly recommend:
Comparing multiple celebrant training providers
Speaking directly to former students if possible
Looking for detailed, balanced reviews
Asking specific questions about practical training, support structure, and real-world preparation
Professional training should feel like a partnership in your development. It should build confidence, competence, and clarity. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.
I truly hope the academy reflects on student feedback and works toward improving the depth of its materials and the consistency of its support, because aspiring celebrants deserve training that genuinely prepares them for such an important role.
This review is not written out of anger — it’s written out of honesty. I simply wish my experience had matched the promise.
There are several Celebrant training companies out there, but I decided to go with the APC. I am so glad I did!
The comprehensive training provided by Stuart, with the support of Tess, went way beyond simply “attending some training”. Our group was given a safe space to learn, discuss, practice our skills, and the after-course support has been of a high standard too.
Once the course is completed, you are then part of a wider community, supported by an app and discussion group. Very happy to recommend APC.
Hello,
Thank you for your response.
I would like to clarify that although I am currently based in Pakistan, at the time of my training I was physically present in the UK. Therefore, the assumption that no one from Pakistan was trained is not relevant to my case.
I have complete documentation, including enrollment records, payment proof, and communication history, which clearly confirms my participation in your training program. If required, I am fully prepared to provide this evidence to Trustpilot for verification.
My review reflects my genuine personal experience, and it is disappointing that instead of addressing the concerns raised, it has been labeled as potential spam.
I stand by my review as an honest account of my experience.
Thank you.
Excellent course which exceeded my expectations. Brilliant resources and Tess and Stuart provide a lovely balance with their different styles and approaches. I was really surprised by the support and resources available post the course too. A full package!

What a brilliant company! I have just completed the 5 day fully residential training and Stuart and Tess were absolutely incredible! I couldn't wish for a better training provider. They really want you to succeed, and nothing is too much trouble. Their wealth of knowledge, professionalism and experience is incredible!I am so inspired and excited to start my new business as a Wedding and Funeral Celebrant. They cover all ceremonies, so you feel confident to take on the various elements of being a Celebrant. It doesn't end there...they are with you as part of being a member of the APC, and provide extensive CPD training, a toolkit full of resources, and an opportunity to connect with fellow celebrants along your new business journey.I really did my homework before and researched the various training providers, and I amso relieved and thankful that I made the absolute right choice and trained with the APC.If I could give more than 5 stars, I really would! I can't thank APC enough!
I undertook the five day face-to-face funeral and family celebrant course and it was excellent. Great pace with a variety of styles and formats, with practical application too. Trainers Stuart and Tess were highly professional, knowledgeable and warm. It was a fantastic safe learning experience and everyone left equipped to start their celebrant journey.
Exceptional coaching from beginning to end. Knowledgeable tutors, an excellent program and curriculum and a truly encouraging atmosphere. I walked away feeling equipped, motivated, and eager to start. I couldn’t recommend it more highly
Beyond the scripts and organization, this training highlights the essence of Celebrancy: supporting individuals in life's most important occasions. By focusing on compassion, attentive listening, and crafting unique ceremonies, I am prepared to provide a genuinely impactful service.
