The airport is managed efficiently, but the public transport system is lacking. I took the 500 Express Bus from a central location to the airport. Upon arriving at 8:20am on a Sunday, I was informed not to board as the bus would arrive in another 10 minutes. After using the restroom and returning five minutes later (still well within the wait time), I saw the bus leaving. By the time the next bus came and took me to the airport, it was 9:15am when I finally got off. The roads were completely clear; the delay was solely due to the service's operation. Luckily, it was off-peak and I had a domestic flight, so I managed to sprint through the airport just in time. The fare was £11 for a single trip, whereas an Uber would have cost around £25. I wouldn't rely on this service again. Total travel time was 50 minutes from the station to the airport (with no traffic).

This was by far the worst airport security experience I've encountered. On a busy Saturday morning, only 2 of the 8 installed scanners were operational outside of priority boarding. Numerous staff were present but not assisting with the backlog of bags needing manual checks. One scanner was stuck for long periods, causing delays. Staff didn't prioritize clearing the backlog effectively. Many bags seemed to be pulled for random checks, but they didn’t seem random at all. I experienced issues with a common item that triggered a check. It’s frustrating that the process turned a 15-minute wait into a chaotic experience. I recently flew from another airport with a seamless process; this was a stark contrast. I’ll be avoiding this airport in the future.
This airport has greedy drop-off parking and shows little investment in facilities. The toilets were unclean post-security, with human waste present and hooks missing. Although there are good shops, the airport feels worn out. Security checks are quick, but there’s a lack of cohesive planning; there’s a chair to remove boots but not to put them back on while walking on a dirty floor.
The support was ineffective and had a poor attitude. While the cleaning staff were helpful, they lacked the access needed to assist with retrieving our delayed baggage. Other staff were unhelpful, and the airport felt deserted late at night. It was a very disappointing experience.
As mentioned by others, departures are fine, but arrivals have been chaotic in recent years. I landed around 1 am and waited over an hour for my luggage. There were no staff available except one who mentioned that several flights had arrived. It’s unacceptable for an airport to be unprepared for scheduled flights. The management needs to improve; it consistently ruins the travel experience.
I’m shocked at how outdated the airport is regarding EV parking. We’re transitioning to electric vehicles, yet there’s no service to park and charge upon return. They claim infrastructure isn’t ready while promoting their shift to electric. It’s pointless if passengers can’t charge their vehicles!
