The proctors were unprofessional, constantly interrupting throughout the exam and creating unnecessary stress instead of providing support. Their behaviour was intrusive and showed a complete lack of understanding of their role. Communication was poor, with limited English skills, and rather than helping, they made the experience far worse.
My experience with ProctorU was terrible. I have taken an exam session on here three different times because they have canceled every single test I have taken. I have been in the middle of my test and my browser will automatically switch between the test and another browser. I have an exam scheduled and then ProctorU says I have no test scheduled to take. Because of my canceled tests I have to wait weeks for my LSAT score to release. Once I am into the exam I can not focus because I have to deal with support for 40 minutes or more before having to jump into writing an essay. I am infuriated.
This was the most outrageous testing experience I have ever had. The proctors repeatedly took control of my computer, downloaded multiple versions of their spyware, requested permissions that included overwriting my files(!!!). Set my microphone to my headphones even when I kept telling them to use the webcam microphone. Disconnected themselves repeatedly. I had no Evolve username or password and when I attempted to reset it, there was no response from their system. I went through over 10 proctors during the event. Had to stand up and show multiple people who I had no idea who they were my room, my chair, my desk. It was the most demeaning and disgusting experience ever. I am outraged. Actually outraged. This didn't test my knowledge. It tested my ability to perform under extreme duress. In Canada, educational facilities have the obligation to accommodate people with disabilities up to undue hardship. These people don't even plan to accommodate. There is no option to request accommodations and during the test, if you realize that something that you do naturally to accommodate yourself like reading the questions aloud so that you can process the information in more than one format is considered cheating, you cannot request accommodation. This does not meet the standards of undue hardship I guarantee.I will be addressing this to my University and do not recommend this garbage company.
Terrible. Do not waste your money and time. Proctors approved my workspace and interrupted me in the middle of my exam asking me to reposition myself or move to the bedroom. I lost about 15% of my exam time and set me in a bad mood. The proctors also kept on changing during the exam and are not responsive and not attentive asking you to do the same thing over and over again.
HORRIBLE . I wrote 2 exams and it was ok. Then this exam well a nightmare. Couldn't do the exam the code was supposed to be wrong. I spent an hour waiting for the support team. I went on twice and tried reconnecting and they aways want you to let them take over your screen. Creepy.
Before the exam even began, I spent approximately 30 minutes troubleshooting technical issues, which were apart of downloading another software that was nowhere in the original set up directions and that continued to fail and disconnect, to the point where I needed to contact customer support. This was then followed by an additional 30 minutes of completing a room check. As a result, the exam did not begin until over an hour past the originally scheduled start time. This significant delay added unnecessary stress and frustration before I was even able to begin writing, and it set a negative tone for the remainder of the exam.My testing environment was repeatedly deemed unacceptable. I was told that my kitchen/dining area was “too large,” my bedroom was unsuitable due to a pet bird(which is fair and I did explain that if they didn’t mind bird chirping that I could work there) and when I suggested the bathroom as an alternative, the proctor was appalled at my suggestion - despite the fact this it fit the criteria of a ‘closed’ room. They then deemed that I could continue to work in my kitchen/dining room. I was instructed to close all blinds, including those outside my line of sight and not accessible from the outside for people to look in, then I was told the blinds were insufficient and that I needed to hang a blanket over my window. I explained that my blinds are not on a curtain rod and that this was not possible. I was also instructed to lock my front door, despite it already being locked, and it was on the other side of the house, with the implication that someone might enter my home during the exam.Ultimately, I was required to complete the exam at my kitchen island using a dining room chair. This was not a comfortable or appropriate testing setup and was not where I had planned to write the exam. I typically complete exams at my dining room table, where I have written tests many times before without issue. Being forced into a different space made me uncomfortable for the duration of the exam and negatively impacted my ability to focus.Additionally, I was repeatedly reprimanded for behaviors that are normal and unconscious parts of my test-taking process. I naturally read questions quietly under my breath and make small, seated body movements to work through and interpret what a question is asking (without standing up or leaving my seat). These are not accommodations, nor are they attempts to gain an unfair advantage; they are simply how I process information. Being continually warned and reprimanded for these behaviors made me feel constantly monitored and anxious.During the exam, I was told to adjust my webcam angle, even when doing so made it difficult to see my laptop screen, and my concerns were dismissed. Additionally, I was frequently yelled at and accused of “talking” despite only silently reading. I became visibly upset due to the ongoing interruptions and pressure and was then reprimanded for sniffling while crying. The nature of this exam involved muscles and movements, yet I was not to move my arms or body in any way that could be perceived as suspicious. This made it extremely difficult to apply practical knowledge, as physically engaging with the material is often part of understanding muscular actions. Throughout the exam, I was frequently threatened with having the session terminated and being failed, which only added to the stress and disruption. The repeated interruptions made it very difficult to focus, regulate my emotions, and perform to the best of my ability.I am struggling to understand how someone is expected to successfully complete an exam under these conditions. I hold two university degrees and have completed numerous proctored examinations in my academic career including online exams, yet I have never experienced a testing environment that felt so hostile, stressful, and demeaning.I fully understand the importance of maintaining exam integrity. However, I am an adult and should be treated with respect and professionalism. This experience felt excessive, unreasonable, and, frankly, traumatic.
I will be utilizing another source from here on out!I am in my 4th year undergrad and have been using proctoru for 3 years now they have always been very average in terms of support and ease of use but lately they have gone from average to barely usable. The services had become unreliable and I no longer trust that my exam will be completed on time that day if completed that day at all. Every time I attempt to write an exam there is some new download, some new technical difficulty, and rarely does my exam get going on time no matter how early or prepared I am. Customer and technical support are inadequate. I am repeatedly asked to perform basic troubleshooting steps I have already completed, only to be told “everything looks good” and sent back to the exam without any meaningful resolution. This does not constitute effective technical support. There is a huge gap in communication, when requesting help they rarely understand what is being asked and appear to respond with generic statements and rush to leave. Also there is a long lag between asking them a question and getting a response. There is a clear lack of understanding of how time-sensitive and high-stakes an academic exam is. I rarely enter my exams without a heightened level of frustration. The recognition of time frame, delays are casually dismissed, constantly reminding me that it will be ok if we are late is disrespectful of my prompt arrival and my personal time after the exam. Their technical difficulties and lack of understanding are not my personal problems. The proctors are hit and miss some are supportive and warm others are harsh, presume user error, and communicate in a scolding, accusatory manner. If I cannot see in my screen what my camera is showing you, you cannot blame me for the angle, clarity or missing items. Test taking is stressful enough, this is extra headache no test taker needs in the few moments prior to writing their exam.
