This is the absolute WORST gold company to deal with. They are dishonest, are not upfront with the fees they will charge. Tell you there will be no fees and then after entering into a contract with them you find out there are undisclosed fees. They lie in order to gain customers. They are less helpful each year. The processes change every year. Every year I am told different information than the prior year which makes it almost impossible to be able to calculate the RMD I am required to take to avoid penalties. The representatives change frequently. Their customer service is atrocious. They are not responsive to e-mail requests. It is a fight every year. Entering into a contract with GoldCo was one of the worst mistakes of my life. If you are considering GoldCo I recommend you stay as far away from them as possible. Unless of course you enjoy migraines and nightmares.
I worked with Lou Amaya with my silver purchase for my mother. He was very helpful and knowledgeable guiding me through the entire transaction. I reached out to him several times during the process with additional questions and he responded promptly each time. I am very pleased with this company and will be choosing Goldco for all future silver purchases.
I have made several orders now for gold and silver. Each order has been handled professionally with no problems encountered. The Goldco staff have been very helpful in providing requested information. Each transaction has been a pleasant experience.
Please examine the reviews before you decide to invest anything with GoldCo. All the 5 star reviews are buyers - giving them money to invest. The selling reviews are the 1's (and would be zero if available). They are great at taking your money, but getting it back out is a task, to put it lightly. I still have not been able to even get a call back to get a buyback quote, although I've been trying since 12/23 (today is the 27th business day - excluding Christmas, New Years, and MLK). Literally zero from them other that automated emails informing me of delays. I have looked into other precious metals brokers that deal with Equity Trust at the Delaware Depository (so I don't have to physically move the Gold/Silver), and gotten 2 separate quotes within the hour with buyback quotes. I had made the decision to transfer my dealer designation when the precious metals market made it's historic dump from record highs. If GoldCo had communicated (at all!!) with me when I'd asked repeatedly for a buyback quote, I would not be writing this review. Timeline for reference: I called on 12/23 with the initial ask for a buyback quote (left message as that was all that was offered) and received an automated email stating that they were handling RMD's and to reach out on 1/16 for a buyback quote. I called on 1/16 (message again) and received an automated email stating they would call me back within 3-5 business days - which would have been by 1/26. I called back again on 1/28 (another message left) and got an automated email stating they would contact me within 5 business days. That will be by tomorrow, but I don't have any expectation of a call back based on their current responsiveness. And at this point, it doesn't matter because silver has dropped from $120 an oz to under $80, the bulk of the profit has vanished.
I'll also just mention that they charge massive premiums on their gold/silver coins up front(example: $66 per oz for silver when it was under $30). And, when I called the other companies for quotes, I was informed that the coins GoldCo sells are pretty much exclusive to them and there is zero demand on the secondary market for them, so any buyback quote is based on melt value only.
I can't in good conscience recommend anyone do business with GoldCo. They get you upfront with the premiums, then they hold you hostage with any buyback. Please go with someone else (DYOR) for any precious metals account!
The process was straightforward. However, I was taken aback by the high price for the silver. I didn't notice the charge per ounce until the invoice arrived. While I understand the need for profit, I was disappointed to see that the markup exceeded double the market price of silver.
Goldco has been very helpful in taking me through the process of purchasing precious metals. Even though I had purchased some precious metals prior to this one they still go through and explain everything very thoroughly and make sure I understand the process. They are friendly, timely, and very professional.
I was very surprised by how fast the process was to rollover my IRA with Goldco. Everyone I talked to on the phone was very pleasant and more than willing to answer any questions. I was nervous about doing this process on my own , but they all walked me through it and I feel confident in my new investments. Thank you!
Neutral experience. Inquiries answered promptly in beginning but not so much by end of process. Went with this company to receive bonus metals offer. After wiring a significant amount to do a purchase was told my purchase did not qualify for this. Felt like a bit of a bait and switch to me. Sales person had ample opportunity to tell me that before I wired funds. Main reason I went with this company was for this bonus opportunity otherwise I could have went to a local dealer and left with my metals same day probably for a lower price. At this point not sure if I will work with this company in the future.
