Review Time
We joined Good Dog in late 2024 and
Over the past year, we have made a real effort to be transparent and helpful in puppy listings, taking time to explain details, clarify Good Dog’s rules, and make sure buyers understood their options when purchasing through the platform.
Recently, we received an email stating my account was TEMPORARILY suspended—not for health, quality, or care issues (we are show quality for breed standard ), but because we allegedly offered “more payment options than allowed for aGood aDog Buyers” .The GOOD DOG email said our account would be “HAPPILY reinstated “ if we replied back to agreed to follow Good Dog’s payment rules. We felt hurt and chose to question the alleged violation. What surprised us most is when we asked for clarification on where or when this violation occurred, they didn’t response. We even sent examples of wording used in the puppy text and asked where violations happened. No response again.
In the past, I had received congratulatory messages from Good Dog about the detail and clarity of listings, which reinforced thr belief that we were being helpful and compliant. So this situation was confusing. Interestingly Instead of honoring their words and giving the opportunity for us to be “ happily reinstated” - within 48 hours of sending email questions , our account was CANCELLED. Feeling hurt and will never go back to have the chance to be mistreated like that again. What do I think happened? First off Good Dog encourages breeders to turn in Buyers who try to purchase off-platform and Good Dog encourages Buyers to turn in Breeders who try to have buyers purchase off platform . I have had Buyers refuse to purchase through Good Dog due to taxes being added, commission, and charges. I actually have TURNED THOSE BUYERS A WAY, being loyal to Good Dog policies. There was one incident Christmas time , a buyer who didn’t want to purchase through the GOOD DOG platform asked if they fill out the application on my personal Website would that be fair so they could purchase directly through us, and I told them “ That is up to them to choose”. I think it’s possible that GOOD Dog might have employees who masquerade as buyers ( spies I think is the term) to see if Breeders are loyal to them. All I can do is speculate since GOOD DOG refused to provide details.
We are in process of getting a dog. At this point my gripe is not the breeder or dog but the fact GoodDog did not accurately represent the price. Having to pay and additioanl $500+/- in taxes and processing fees. This is excessive IMO. Fully inquire before using this company.
The breeders' information was misleading, and the photos of the puppies were taken from the internet. A Google image search confirmed this. When I reached out to the veterinarian, they stated they had never treated the litter being sold. They had handled a different breed, but the puppies in question were born later than their claims. I contacted local vets and received the same information: multiple litters but none matching the breed or birth dates. I chose this platform because they supposedly vet the breeders. I uncovered multiple inconsistencies, which led me to consider reporting this as fraud. The seller pressured me to pay a deposit through various payment methods due to alleged high fees from the platform. I did get my money back. If the puppies were real, at least two were supposedly picked up today, and they would have had their first shots if any vet visits occurred. The seller claimed to have accidentally posted the wrong photo, then changed her story about selling that specific dog. She sent me videos of a similar dog, which she later admitted was one she purchased herself but couldn't sell due to a contract. She also tried to get me to sign a non-disclosure agreement to keep me quiet about the situation before refunding my money. I refused and set a deadline for the return of my funds or I would contact the authorities. The post for these puppies has been removed, but the false information remains. If this is not corrected soon, I will escalate the matter. This seller has been operating this way for a couple of years, and it's clear that the platform needs to better vet their breeders. Allowing such actions undermines their core mission.
I contacted the service to arrange a meeting for a specific dog I was interested in. They claim to support ethical breeding and proper registration. Unfortunately, the dog I placed a deposit on was not available, and I discovered they were sourcing dogs from South Korea, which is known for poor treatment of animals. I strongly advise against purchasing any dogs from South Korea. On a positive note, I eventually found a reputable breeder and managed to negotiate a deal outside of the service's network, as their fees were excessively high for both sides.
After about four months of searching for a new puppy to join our family, we were quite particular in our choice, aiming to find the perfect match. We believed that the platform was well-regulated, which gave us confidence in finding a reputable breeder. Our new puppy has exceeded all of our expectations!
I had recently lost my husband of 48 years, leaving me feeling quite lost. To help me, my daughter sought out a puppy for companionship. She discovered a toy long-haired Chihuahua named Bob on a pet adoption site. Coincidentally, my husband's name was also Bob! The breeder was incredibly supportive and guided me through the entire process. The day I welcomed Bob into my life was truly magical. He has begun to fill that emptiness, and surprisingly, he exhibits some of the same traits as my husband.
