I like to refer to Honest Hounds as a movement, which in my opinion should be made mandatory for any and every dog owner, as it encapsulates a truly one of a kind, holistic approach. If every dog owner and dog professional joined Honest Hounds the current state of the dog world would be in a much better place.Instead of quick temporary and superficial fixes and often very conflicting advice the Honest Hounds mindset is completely different and always looking for the true root cause of any behaviour and understanding the connections on a deeper level.Upon joining everyone can customise their experience depending on what issues they are working on or where their priorities are, as there are multiple tiers with relevant resources on all levels. From regular in depth posts from the trainers and head behaviourist to live webinars on a variety of subjects, a wide range of online courses that everyone can complete at their own pace, to in person events, both focusing around dog training and behaviour, and just having fun together as a community, and of course the famous Neutral and Social Walks not just across the UK but worldwide, Honest Hounds offers something for everyone.Looking at our dogs' behaviour through the lens of partnership, nutrition, biology, chemistry, breed specific needs, and always with their health and well being in the centre and forefront of every piece of information and advice is truly a game changer, and there is even a dedicated Mental Health space for owners who are struggling. The community and support on Honest Hounds is truly second to none.Seeing the transformation in so many dogs labelled as "difficult", "reactive", or "anxious" by understanding them instead of just trying to "fix" them is the ultimate testament to the values Honest Hounds stands for.
When my dog became reactive at one year old, I struggled to find progress with behaviourists. Joining Honest Hounds changed everything. Their holistic approach and supportive community helped my dog learn to make better choices around other dogs. The neutral and social walks have been invaluable, and I’ve made great friends along the way. Highly recommend! 🐾
I can't say enough good things about Honest Hounds. I attended a residential with my dog-aggressive GSP when we were in the most hopeless place with her. We'd tried multiple trainers, and things just got worse. She's a high-energy breed, and I was the only person who could walk her; no dog walker would touch her, no-one would board her. I was due to have major surgery and start cancer treatment, so we were in a very dark place. Given the stakes, the residential was the hardest thing I've ever done, because it was our last chance. But it changed everything. Today, my dog is happy, fulfilled and stress-free. We've overcome so much of her reactivity completely, and there is a whole community supporting us on the bits we're still working on. I was an experienced working dog owner, but I've probably got a degree's worth of learning in dog behaviour from the webinars, courses and workshops. Two years on, I still pay for the coaching tier, because I get so much out of it. The best part is the community, both online, and in real life with the social and neutral walks. To be able to work on your dog's challenges safely, with a non-judgemental group who get it, is a game-changer. I really thank my lucky stars I found them.
I joined Honest Hounds nearly a year ago due to my vizsla’s lead reactivity, it was neigh on impossible to have a normal walk. I began by joining the neutral walks which gave me an opportunity to work on my dog’s issues in a controlled way, which in itself improved my confidence. I’ve done quite a few of the courses on Honest Hounds, the Partnership Project which really helped me to build engagement with my dog and our relationship. The Social Status Course was a real eye opener for me, explaining all the nuances of dog behaviour, our influence how we interact, a whole approach to understanding your dog and your relationship and how it all fits together. If you are having issues with your dog don’t hesitate to join as Honest Hounds, it is such wonderful community, so many resources, I particularly find the body language and behaviour clip breakdowns incredibly helpful in learning to talk dog.
Honest Hounds is the best place for all dog lovers to be. The fact that you can access a supportive community, in-person events and a wealth of education that encompasses a wholistic approach is just incredible. The community is truly a one of a kind space and I recommend it to all dog people but particularly those that have trickier dogs and need the support.
I've been working with Honest Hounds for almost a year now and it has to be one of the best decisions I've ever made! I was very lost and feeling pretty desperate about where to turn for help with my dog whose behaviour inside and outside of the house had become extremely stressful and difficult to live with. I joined to community around Christmas by accessing the Emergency Toolkit and haven't looked back since. I have joined 3 neutral walk groups, completed the Reactivity Reset online course, a residential, board and train and have regular online sessions with one of the amazing affiliate trainers. Having access to this online community of experts and fellow complex dog owners who "get it" has been a real life line for me this year. We have made so much progress with our dog's reactivity, resource guarding, touch aggression and mental and physical health. It's a truly holistic approach which has worked wonders for us all. I can't recommend HH highly enough to anyone experiencing challenges with their dog!
Before joining Honest Hounds, I'd been through around 5 or 6 different trainers and plenty of social media 'advice'. The key takeaways were really that the dog world is incredibly conflicting and pretty toxic with it.At the time, my dog was reactive to pretty much anything that moved, other dogs, children, bikes etc. were all triggers, and I just wanted to get her more exposure to the world in a controlled way, but nobody was offering that local to me.I'd been following Jessie and Atlas for a while and I knew she was looking for volunteers to run neutral walks, so this was my opportunity to start on the journey that my dog deserved to be on.I've been leading neutral walks for around 3 years now, and the overall experience with HH has literally changed my dog's life. I've done a number of in-person training events with the whole team at HH, which completely changed my outlook on my dog and her behaviours. We've now gone sooo much further than my initial goal of neutral exposure. Now I lead social walks too, so my previously reactive dog is regularly helping other dogs get off-lead and enjoying long country walks with large groups, enjoying complete freedom with an emphasis on calm energy. The best advice I can give anybody who is struggling with their dog in any way and wants to open up their world, would be to look for people who can show you dogs that are living the life that you want for yours. That's exactly what I found when I started working with Honest Hounds.
Would rate higher if i could! We’ve seen multiple trainers and behaviourists and Honest Hounds has by far been the best help we’ve received. My german shepherds reactivity is barely existent now and she’s turning into such a lovely dog. She is much less stressed now and is able to even eat her food. My lurcher has started developing some pretty intense resource guarding and all of the resources combined with help from one of the affiliate trainers, Proper Paws, we’re making so much progress already. I’ve gained so much insight about both of my dogs and how to help them be the best versions of themselves. Honest Hounds even has resources to help with your own mental health which is so valuable when you have such complex dogs. I always recommend honest hounds to people struggling with their dogs and even when people get a new puppy to help them raise well-rounded, polite dogs. The community is always so welcoming and supportive, i’ve made some lovely friends that just understand and get what we’re going through. The holistic approach is the best thing for your dog and for you as their guardian 🩷
