Beware! This is, by any definition a scam. It is extremely unfortunate that businesses like this are allowed to operate at all and even worse that government services, at least in California Actually link to this site. In my case I was simply trying to find out if someone I knew had died so I was trying to search public records and ended up on instant checkmate, only to have it go through a whole bunch of BS graphics and buttons you have to click to continue, then charge me $35 and tell me there were no records for this person. This was after, during the phony search process, is listed this person's name with correct middle initial saying that they had found records. Incidentally, the graphics and process it puts you through while you're waiting are exactly the same as truth finder, so it stands to reason they are the same shady company that exists solely to steal people's money.

Site unethically, if not illegally, sells personal information. [To their reply: A Google search of one of my email addresses shows their site listing my full name & other emails. These are not public information or contained in any publicly available data. So the assertion that my emails were obtained in public records is patently false.]

Response to Instant Checkmate:Did you miss the part that said I HAVE emailed your "support"? It's comical that you pretend like you're going to "make this right" if an email is sent when I HAVE ALREADY BEEN DOING EXACTLY THAT FOR MONTHS. All your "support" team does is either argue or send you to your nonfunctional "suppression tool". You have the worst "support" team I have ever dealt with. --Original review:Owned and operated by peopleconnect.us this is a criminal organization that displays and sells private information and has specifically designed their opt out system to reduce opt outs as much as possible as well as gather and confirm information about you while also forcing you to agree to their terms and privacy policy. They will not allow you to remove your private information that they have no permission to display or sell unless you agree to their terms and privacy policy and also verify a phone number or email address they have on file for you. If you send an email to support they just talk in circles either telling you to go to their ridiculous nonfunctional "suppression tool" or that they can't verify which listing to remove even though you give them the exact information in your listing. In fact, their "support" is so terrible that if you respond to their email to you they act as though it's the first email you've ever sent them. It's clear that the only way to get these criminals to honor opt outs and respect people's privacy is either through a class action lawsuit or to shut the company down entirely.
