Review Time
I've used meal-delivery services before, but Mell's Kitchen is the best one. I'm disabled and struggle to get to the shops and cook. The difference with Mell's Kitchen is that the meals are chilled on arrival, not frozen. This means that I can have one or two salad dishes a week, something that's not possible with other entirely frozen meal services. There's also enough variety to stave off boredom, and the food is tasty. And of course, it's all vegan 👍 . (My dog also likes to lick the cardboard bowls clean after I've decanted the food, so it's thumbs up from me, and paws up from my dog!)
Great food, super healthy, only the good stuff. I've gone above my own limits and am permitting myself to eat foods that I wouldn't touch before (such as beetroots!) just because I wanted to try all the meals and I want to nourish my body with what is really healthy. And I was surprised to find that the little bits of beetroots mixed with other foods don't taste as bad as this food aversion always told me it would since a child! (My mum used to cook beetroots inside of the pressure pan alone with beans, to hide the beetroot's taste from me without me losing on the nutrition, lol). Mell's kitchen has been an invaluable piece on my puzzle of weight loss. I had a gastric sleeve 17 weeks ago and was struggling immensely with balancing my protein intake with healthy, wholefoods, I was relying in too many processed foods and I was feeling it on my digestion with constipation. When I signed up for the deliveries, I wanted to be able to eat healthier without having to stress about what should I eat next, or if I have all the ingredients to cook a healthy meal. I think this was the best decision I've made because having easy and fast access to healthy food ready for me to eat helps me to keep the discipline around food. Before my gastric surgery my major struggle was finding the time to cook after spending time trying to decide what I would eat. By the time I had decided what to cook my brain was overwhelmed, and it was already too late to cook and I was starved so I would always choose the wrong foods and have massive portions of the wrong stuff! Now it is easy to navigate and control my hunger and cravings because I can eat every 3-4h and don't need to stress about what to eat, so I just eat and I have no hunger or cravings. Makes compliance and sticking to a diet and the weight loss much easier!
