Review Time
Sadly I have to agree with the many other 1* reviews, the first box was great fun as my review said, the second box, absolutely stank and shrivelled down to nothing except smelly waste with no growth at all, the third box managed to breed literally hundreds of fruit flies but not one mushroom. I called customer service to explain that I was an avid gardener of more than 45 years but I was struggling to know what was going wrong, they sent a generic email, check best before date, take photos and send a day by day to day breakdown of what has been done. By the way it was worded they were never going to refund me or replace the kit, maybe they know there is no point unless you have a use for hundreds of fruit flies.
I am on my 3rd batch now from my first kit. I got about 30 mushrooms on my 1st batch, then 20-25 mushrooms on my 2nd batch and now I have approximately 20 mushrooms with my 3rd batch. I have them tucked in under my floating vanity unit in the bathroom right at the back. They seem to thrive with the steam from the shower.
Surprised at the bad reviews, because my Shiitake mushrooms came out INCREDIBLE! I have never ever smelt Shiitake like this before. I got two logs and they both grew beautifully and grew an abundance of mushrooms in 7 days! I got over 1.5kg from both! WOAH! Half of them are drying in my oven as I type, and the smell from the oven is even more incredible. Worked out to be over £10 cheaper than buying Organic Shiitake Mushrooms from the store. It's pretty cool to see how fast they grow each day and you just feel good growing your own to eat.
iwas given 2 boxes from my son as a present 1pink 1yellow which no pink grew and only 2 stalks of yellow definitely not worth the money or time spent tried to contact company on the web site and send button did not work . Only 1 star as had to for review.
I bought 4 boxes- 2 packs of 2 boxes as on special offer with one chestnut mushrrom box and one oyster mushroom box each. We used one set and gave the other set to very good friends and neighbours who are great gardeners- we are very keen gradeners too and self-sufficient on veg.Very disappointed for our friends as they got very few meals of muchrooms from their 2 boxes. We got slightly more, about 5 meals in total from the 2 boxes (as veg in meal for 2 people). Compared to buying organic mushrooms at Ocado, the amount of mushrooms we got for the price we paid was appalling. Will never buy again and would NOT recommend.
