I booked a car through Doyouspain and went to pick it up at the Nizacars desk in Barcelona. They refused to hand over the car, and I ended up wasting several hours and losing my plans for the day.
Their reason was ridiculous: they said they couldn’t give me the car because I booked it only from Feb 28 to Mar 5, not for my entire stay in Barcelona, even though I was returning to my country on March 11. That makes no sense — a rental company should not refuse a valid booking just because it’s not for the full trip.
I even said I could change the reservation and book for the full period, but they told me “we don’t have any cars” — while the website still showed cars available. It felt like an excuse and extremely unprofessional.
This experience was stressful, a total waste of time, and I do not recommend booking here.
I booked online with a non-refundable option to save money, but I was surprised by a large deposit requirement after my reservation. I had to purchase costly insurance at the office to be able to get the car. Additionally, there was an extra fee for a "full tank," yet they provided the car with only a 3/4 tank. Ultimately, the total rental price ended up being twice what I initially paid.
The car I booked was not the one I received. Additionally, the shuttle service that was supposed to arrive every 10 minutes from terminal 1 actually took 40 minutes to show up. As a result, I missed my concert. Very unprofessional experience.
Living in the area, I have been using this service for over a year. Each time I rented a car, I received exceptional service, allowing me to choose from available vehicles or get an occasional upgrade at a discounted rate. If they don’t have the exact model, they often provide a superior option.
