I’m absolutely outraged.
This year, auto insurance has become completely insane. I own two Honda Odyssey vehicles (2023 and 2024), and today I got a notice from NJM demanding $2,600. For what exactly?!
This is getting out of control. What are these insurance companies thinking? Do they believe people have unlimited money? Because last time I checked, our salaries have NOT gone up—but everything else has.
This feels like daylight robbery. Plain and simple.
How are normal, hardworking people supposed to live when every essential expense keeps skyrocketing like this? At what point does this stop? Or does it?
Something is seriously wrong with this system. Insurance companies are pushing people to the edge, and nobody seems to be doing anything about it.
If anyone knows of a reliable AND affordable insurance alternative, please speak up. Because what’s happening right now is unacceptable.
They used to be very selective about who they insured so rates were significantly lower than other carriers. Not the case anymore. I recently inquired about my auto policy rate increase and was told that everybody’s rates were increased to cover claims. I haven’t had anything more than a parking ticket in almost 20 years but my rate was increased to pay for other peoples claims. I guess they have to pay for all those commercials too. On top of that, I was told that they weren’t “allowed” to reduce my homeowners coverage so that it is more affordable. $440k to rebuild an 1100 sq ft bungalow? $44k to rebuild a shed? Really? I seriously doubt it. I’m being forced to pay for more coverage than I want, or need. It’s like stealing. Looks like it’s time to do some policy shopping
NJM needs to give more information to policy holders.
First, I was told they don't give dividends to PA residents. Aren't we paying too, just like NJ drivers?
Secondly, they do not inform mature drivers that the whole course has to be re-taken after 3 years. A refresher course does not count, even though the course provider said this on their reminder email:
"Your three-year certificate is about to expire.
You must complete a refresher course soon, or you will lose your car insurance discount"
I finished the course and sent NJM the certificate, and received a call yesterday and was informed that it does not count.
MJM Insurance group has always been very responsive to any problems that have occurred.I have been with them for many years and Agents have always been polite, very respectful and helpful. I never have to hold on the phone very long. I highly recommend NJM.
Had to file a claim because car was rear-ended. Fault of the other driver. NJM was easy to work with- found an excellent body shop in their network. NJM reimbursed us for car rental, repairs, and deductible in a timely and efficient manner. Thank you for dealing well with a bad situation.
