Disappointed with the Service and Communication

I'm truly sorry to write this negative review, as I had high expectations for this service. It claims to address important gaps and provide stability and support for our children. Firstly, the lack of communication has been unacceptable. I've sent emails seeking basic information, only to be ignored or given incorrect details. There have been instances where staff did not show up, leaving my child feeling upset, angry, and rejected without proper education. When I inquire about sessions, I’m told they will come, but then they don’t. I prepare my daughter for these sessions only to be let down without explanation, and I’m left to manage her feelings of rejection, which impacts her relationship with the staff. I could mention the senior I've been in contact with, as she seems to be the root of these issues. The local authority is paying for a service that we have not received. The sessions never last the agreed 3 hours; we only receive 1-2 hours. All concerns have gone unaddressed. I find that this service does not meet the needs of vulnerable children. In fact, I believe it should not be offered if there is no readiness to support or understand these children. Additionally, there is a pressing need to improve responsiveness to concerns; ignoring them is neither appropriate nor respectful. I cannot recommend this service to anyone, and I am thoroughly appalled. It's shameful that the local authority continues to utilize a service that is clearly inadequate.

Unacceptable Service Experience

I regret to write this negative review as I had high expectations for this service, which claims to bridge gaps and provide stability for children. The communication has been appalling; I've emailed for basic information and received either no response or incorrect details. Staff have failed to show up, leaving a child feeling upset and rejected without proper education. When I inquire, I'm told they will come, but then they don't. My daughter gets ready for sessions only to be let down without explanation. This affects her emotionally and damages her relationships with the staff. I could name a senior individual I've been in contact with, as she seems to be at the center of the issues. The funding body is paying for a service we haven't received, and the sessions never last the agreed-upon three hours—it's usually just 1-2 hours. All problems have been ignored and never addressed. I find this service inadequate for vulnerable children and believe it should not exist if it cannot provide proper support. Communication needs serious improvement; ignoring concerns is unacceptable. I cannot recommend this service to anyone and am deeply disappointed.

Transformative Experience

My experience with this organization has been life-changing. I genuinely enjoyed working with the young individuals, as I can relate to their situations. The role they play is crucial for helping young people. My case manager and everyone involved were incredibly supportive whenever I needed help. Staff gatherings and regular check-ins were timely and helped me navigate challenging times. This organization stands out as one of the best I've been a part of. I wish them continued success and am grateful for the opportunity to contribute.

Challenging Work Conditions

Having worked with this organization, I want to share some insights. The role is under a zero-hours contract with a pay rate of around £14.75 per hour. You'll be supporting disengaged and traumatized children, which requires taking on multiple roles, including mentor, psychologist, and social worker, all for low pay. This is a vital role for individuals with basic qualifications and experience, but the expectations are high for the remuneration offered. Government funding is involved.

Valuable Employment Experience

I've been employed by this organization for a year and truly appreciate its values aimed at giving young people a meaningful life. They are dedicated to supporting chronically disengaged children with life skills, education, and resilience. Personally, I've received excellent training and support from all the managers. When I faced a personal loss, they were incredibly understanding, allowing me to maintain my mental health while continuing to work. My values align with theirs, and I hope to remain part of the impactful work they do.

Invaluable Support

I can't express enough gratitude for the support my autistic son has received. It has been life-changing for him and has also greatly benefited our family. The practitioner has been exceptional, taking the time to understand his preferences and overall needs.

Making a Positive Impact

I've worked here for nearly five years and have never encountered a more passionate and dedicated team. We come from diverse backgrounds but share the same values and a strong commitment to making a difference for the children and young people we support daily.

Outstanding Organizational Support

With over 23 years of experience working with vulnerable young people, this organization stands out as the most supportive and impactful one I've encountered. After over four years here, it feels like home, not just a job. The focus is entirely on re-engaging at-risk children and young people. Every staff member, from finance to management, is committed to eliminating chronic disengagement from education. The support is exceptional; you are never alone in your work, and there's always someone available to assist. The sense of shared purpose and care is unparalleled. I highly recommend this organization to professionals wanting to make a real difference or families seeking support.
