Review Time
This place is a JOKE. First, you have a 'contract' and you're supposed to get a maintenance check twice a year. Good luck. It's October and I haven't had a single one. Second, they don't seem to have a grasp of the word 'schedule.' Twice I've been scheduled and...wait for it...nothing. Called them and they said they called to reschedule. NOPE! My phone is glued to me. No one called and they also said my part just came in today (the day of the repair appointment). Well, then why have they been calling since last Monday to schedule the repair? And let's not leave out the part that the last technician who 'fixed' my air conditioner put the compressor in UPSIDE DOWN. Don't waste your time or money with this unstructured organization.
FROM ONE HOUR TO FOUR DAYSTL/DR: Went four days without air conditioning that was finally fixed on Monday late afternoonWhere to begin? I guess I should say that I looked at review for this place on Apple and it had 5 stars, which is why I picked it. That was a HUGE mistake. Here is what happened:THURSDAYOn Thursday night my AC started making weird noises and eventually just quit working. That night I called this company and was told they would be out the next day. Bear in mind this place is called "One Hour" air conditioning so I'm thinking they would be out early in the morning. FRIDAYAbout 2:30pm, after all day without AC, the technician shows up. He seems like a nice person and he begins troubleshooting. After a couple of hours he determines the cause is a fan that has broken in the intake unit in the attic. We talk price and come to an agreement. Then, after about 20 minutes, he tells me that the part he needs for the unit, because it is a 13 year old unit, is at a supplier. Here is where the fun begins. The supplier is only open until 4:30pm (It's 4:00pm now) and it's across Houston. There is NO way that is going to happen. Knowing I can't be without AC for several days in record heat, I ask how much to replace the entire unit. He calls a "manager" (sales guy) and we talk about replacing the entire thing which turns out to be cost prohibitive because Bidennomics has killed our savings. I assess the situation and say that I'll wait until Monday then for them to fix the unit and figure something out. Then he tells me I have to pay in advance and I get billed $2,845.00 for the cost of the part, fixing the unit on Monday, and their "maintenance plan". He assures me that he will get the part first thing Monday morning and will "do his best" to be here early Monday morning. He departs and I'm left to figure out a way to keep my two kids, my wife, and myself cool until Monday. Off to Home Depot we go! I went to get some cooling units and, knowing nothing about portable cooling, wound up getting three Hessaire portable evaporator units. DO NOT GET THESE UNITS FOR YOUR HOUSE. They do not cool your home, require constant filling up with water, and are mostly for outdoor "light" cooling. So, naturally, I had to return these.Next, I bought three LG Portable Air Conditioners. They are really good units and, in smaller spaces, would probably be great. They did manage to make three rooms in our house livable (but pretty warm in the afternoon).SATURDAYWe sweat a lot and my wife was not in the greatest of moods due to the heat. The kids took it pretty well. SUNDAYNow we are all surly since we have been three days without AC and everybody is just done with this stuff. MONDAYThank God! Monday finally rolls around. We are SO ready to get our AC back. I get up early to do some work and patiently wait for the call from "One Hour" air conditioning. And wait. And wait. And wait. No call. Around 8:45am, I call in and ask for an ETA. They tell me the part "needs to be ordered" and they don't have an estimate since dispatch isn't in the office yet. I ask them to call me back. They say they will.Around 11:00am, I call back and ask for an ETA. They tell me that the part is "ordered" and they will call me back with a time. They never called back.Around 12:00pm, I call again and ask for an ETA but now the person tells me that I have to understand "they have a process" and it just "takes time". I told him that I am officially pissed off and to let me talk to a manager. I talk to the manager and the manager promises to call me back with an ETA.Finally, around 1:45pm I call back and tell the first guy to just let me talk to the manager. The manager looks up my information and tells me the part is "ordered" and they will update me when they have more information. I then proceed to tell them everything that has happened and they say, get this, "It sounds like you aren't getting good customer service." I'm not joking. They actually said those words. I couldn't help but just laugh and say, "No s**t. That's the understatement of the year." This person ALSO promises to call me back and I tell him that I have a $20 bet with my wife that he won't call me back. Believe it or not, he actually does call me back around 2:45pm only to tell me the part is "in" and they will be out "sometime today". Seriously, you can't make this stuff up. After all that happened he said they would be out "sometime today" to fix the AC that had been out since Friday. Again, I just had to laugh. It is currently 3:09pm and I am sweating in my office typing up this review while waiting for "One Hour" air conditioning to come fix my AC after four days. Don't walk. RUN AWAY from this company.
Replacement HVAC system for new houseIn May, I had One Hour come to my home to install a new heat pump/AC system, and their partner company, Benjamin Franklin, was contracted with them to also replace a water heater at the same time. I have no serious problems with pricing or the customer service before the appointment or the actual technicians performing the service afterwards. The problem was, after the work was completed. They had to come back a few days later to finish making things up to code. Cool, no problem. Then after that, the work was complete and I was told that the company would be in touch for any remaining steps that needed to be completed, or to follow up on a few questions that I had that the techs couldn't answer.A week passes, I have heard nothing. I then spend several hours a week attempting to call or email or contact via their appointment request system on their website, just to have someone confirm everything is done, in addition to answer questions about the system they installed. In the strange occurrence that someone actually picks up their phone (which is about once a month, with several attempts per week during normal business hours), they take my information and promise follow up, only to never be heard from again.Weeks have now turned into FOUR MONTHS. I admit I stopped trying for about 2-3 weeks, but I tried again today, only to be told my address isn't in their service area and they can't help me. They INSTALLED the device. And I'm not in their area.I give up. This company is not worth your time or money. I left a review on google, and someone responded to it asking me to call them. I'll let anyone reading this guess the result of that call.D.S.(Near Baltimore, MD)
This is a franchise, so the service is entirely dependent on the technician - are you feeling lucky? We were clearly ripped off by the Nashville, TN group on 54th Ave. Heat went out, technician spent 5 hours replacing a transformer and connector: $977. It went out again that evening and he wanted another $1200 to replace the wiring. Instead, we called another company who replaced the wiring and new transformer (which had blown because the OneHour guy had misdiagnosed the problem) for $325. One Hour mgmt did not respond to multiple emails. 0 satisfaction.
Obviously a company has overhead, but to charge $650 to swap an $20 capacitor in under 15 minutes is flat out highway robbery, my AC guy was not available until next week so I had to use them, had it not been the middle of summer in Texas I would have waited, live and learn
OK, I rarely do this...I am so disgusted with One Hour Heating and cooling in the Birmingham Alabama area that I am ready to go crazy. In two years time I purchased two new Train units from this company. 20k. I have a 3rd until that they worked on.Since the purchase of my new units (8 months apart) they have been to my home 21 times! yes 21! Now to be fair a couple of these calls were related to a unit they did not install though was under warranty and I had them work on it.At the time of this writing it has been a year. still having issues with no real resolution in site.
Nobody works here. Called several times for an emergency (our heater works nonstop at 97 degrees) for a newly constructed home and they have not been answering for 4 days now. Even their emergency line just rings and rings. The builder also contacted them to no avail.
My family uses them and I was trying to use them as well but is seriously on the verge of looking for another heating and air conditioning place and reporting them and their services to whomever, whatever, wherever I can report them. How are you on your site advertising 24hours and saying you are booked. First of all I’m sure it’s not that many emergencies in a day to be saying that you all don’t have any appointments available especially when you all advertise one hour service and there’s 24 hours in a day. Like they are seriously on there website false advertising. So the whole statement “ We’re ready to answer your call 24/7 so that you can quickly find a solution to your HVAC emergency! Our Augusta HVAC technicians love making you comfortable, and they're always ready to help” it’s a straight up lie I called them letting them know My air conditioner went out and my thermostat is currently reading that’s it 80 degrees in my house and my 80-year-old mother, one year-old son and asthmatic daughter is in the house and they did absolutely nothing but set me up with an appointment for two days later. That is an emergency especially the fact that it’s 80 degrees in the house and we just went and purchased fans for every room and it still isn’t doing the job and they still aren’t trying to send a technician out here. I do not recommend this company if it’s an emergency by no means. IF YOU’LL ARE UNDERSTAFFED AND CAN’T DO 24 HOURS A DAY JUST SAY THAT BECAUSE 24 HOURS MEAN YOU CAN COME ANYTIME , DAY, OR NIGHT LISTEN. ITS AN EMERGENCY I HAVE A SICK PERSON, ELDERLY PERSON AND A BABY IN THE HOUSE AND TRIED EVERYTHING SMH THERES NOT THAT MANY EMERGENCIES IN THE WORLD IN A 24 HOUR PERIOD WHICH THEY ARE OPEN ALWAYS!!!
This company won't perform and has no integrity. After posting this review, their response was the same yada yada they spew at all of their negative reviews, they probably don't even read them. But the facts remain. They don't fulfill their promises. They're unprofessional. They do shoddy diagnoses, upsell, and have no ethics. And, to top it off, in response to negative reviews, they say to call them, but, they blocked my calls, and I don't want to yell from here to Prescott. There's a right way and a wrong way to handle legitimate complaints, they didn't learn the right way, and they perfected the wrong way, they ignore you. We had two service calls from One Hour Heating and Cooling/Benjamin Franklin Plumbing to two different properties. We paid on the spot. Their HVAC tech appraised one of those units "dead", it had multiple issues, and, "no freon and they don't make it anymore," and the unit had to be replaced, "Someone will call you to give you a price for that". I never did get that call. Days went by, I got no call from anyone. Our home warranty people sent a tech who replaced the compressor motor and the unit started cooling immediately, the tech said the refrigerant is fine. I wanted an invoice for each of those calls, as is common business practice. I have received one. I still need the second one. It's been "coming" for 2 weeks. I also wanted the 5-year warranty for the extra expensive capacitor the agent promised upon taking payment. I had to chase One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning of Prescott for that. Then I scheduled an appointment with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, same syndicate, and got a 1-5pm window, "They will call when they're on the way". We had to have someone on hand to meet their tech, I suppose they're not bonded and insured. I got a recorded call requesting I call and confirm that appointment the day of the appointment. Which I did.At 4:40pm, three hours and forty minutes into waiting for the promised call from the promised tech, I called to get an estimated time of arrival and got a recording that said my number was blocked. What? So I called from my wife's phone, and the agent answering said, "Hmm, I don't know, let me see, this looks strange. May I put you on hold for a minute?" He comes back after several minutes, and tells me my account is "bugged". Bugged? What do you mean? "It's hard to explain. A supervisor will reach out to you tomorrow." They never did. I don't think it's a leap to judge that One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning of Prescott could not accept being asked to perform as promised and as paid for. To provide invoices, and to competently diagnose HVAC equipment. So, they simply blocked my calls. They did not cancel the appointment. They did not tell us. They left us waiting for the tech for 4 hours. And they blocked my calls. All I was asking for was what Benjamin Franklin Plumbing/ One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning of Prescott promises for their fee. Seriously, blocking my calls? They could have simply said, "We won't perform as promised, and we won't be showing up for the appointment, because you confronted us on our lack of performance." I only asked them to comply with their stated code of ethics. And they just stood us up. That's truly awful business practice. Not to mention their diagnostics. These clowns are not ethical. I'd go somewhere else. Also, check out their one-star reviews on Google. Ignore the 5-star reviews. If you don't want one-star service, don't call One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning of Prescott.
I called One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning (Pleasantville NJ) and the service was so professional that I can not be happier. First, Tyler Brown came to my home and answered all of my questions and told me what to expect. Then two technicians Fonz and Juune ( I really hope I'm getting their names right) came and did a great job of replacing my water heater. This service was so professional, efficient and a very reasonable price that I had to give them 5 stars and highly recommend them. Everyone was so nice. I absolutely love One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning!Q.E.Tyler
